The next day when the sun rose Callahan was ready to take action. He knew he needed to tell her what he feels otherwise, he might just lose her forever. He was not ready to lose her. Not for anything. The thought kept him awake all night.
Though he was right beside her all night long just like every other night. But this night he spent watching her. He couldn't get himself to sleep. The impending doom that was lying upon him kept him from closing his eyes and missing any more by closing his eyes.
As Avni opened her eyes she was greeted by silence and him. "Were you awake all night?" She asked. He said nothing just keep looking at her. Then he placed a kiss on her forehead. "Please come out and meet me at stables. I will be waiting for you." And with that said he left like he wasn't even there.
She wondered what happened to him all of a sudden. But she didn't dwell on that she decided to follow him as this was the last day, they could be together. She knew after today she has to walk away. But Avni wanted so much to revive the Christmas tradition he had grown up with, when he was living with his mother.
Even if for one year, she wanted him to really enjoy the Christmas with her. Just like he used to with his mother. But, he cannot, because he would have someone else to take care of, something else to do.
Lady Margret will throw a ball and will expect everyone to dance on her moves. And no one could do anything about it because till then she would be crowned queen. But what Avni could do was give Callahan one last day to spend with her. He deserves that much, maybe it can be like their personal bachelors' party.
Maybe she can make it really special for him. As she was walking towards the door from where she can exit and go to stable, she collided with someone. The person wasn't very much happy seeing her. But then a sinister smile graced on her lips.
"Just the Princess I was looking for, you know Avni, since we are going to be family, I was hoping that you might want to know me a little better, why don't we spend the day together?" Margret asked. Avni decline politely
"I have someplace to be, I am sorry I cannot attend, you know some things are much more important to me than your wedding." Margret gave her a mocking smile "Is that so dear, maybe your cause is something I am not aware of, but I would like it so much if you can be my maid of honour." Avni was about to protest but then Margret said
"Don't say no, see Avni, there is no one better than you to do this, seeing you are the one who had actually convinced Callahan that he should go with this wedding, I will even let you chose your dress. So can I count you in?" Avni knew she just wanted to shun her down.
Because that is what people like her was good at, to get pleasure in other's misery. "We will see about that" Avni said and walked out of the castle leaving Margret with a smug smile on her face.
As Promised Callahan was waiting for her at the stables. And he had prepped both Poseidon and Lace in advance. So, he can take them out as soon as Avni came in. "Are we going in for a ride?" She asked. "Yes, we are. Come let me help you up Princess" he said. And he helped her up on to her horse. And he took the reins of Lace.
"I see you and Poseidon had bonded quite good in these past weeks." She commented not knowing where they are going. "He was lonely, and missing you, so was I. It was a mutual sadness we both shared. Eventually we bonded." She nodded touching Poseidon's neck.
"Keep looking out for him always ok?" She thought. And if he can understand her thoughts, he leapt in air running faster than before. Callahan took the reins and tied both the horses to a place near the museum.
"You never got to visit, so I thought I could take you. And today I have all the day just for you. I wanted to spend it with you. First let us get some breakfast. I know a place." He held her hand and pulled her towards a diner. Afterwards he took her to the museum. "How long since it all is here?" She asked looking at the architecture of the place. And then over the priceless artifacts inside.
