His grandfather too followed him inside and Louie chuckled making Margret look at him. "What is so funny father?" She asked. "Looks like the dead king still holds a firm grip on the living son. And that is very good, that is very good, this can be of very big advantage for us." And he too walked inside.
Inside the council was seated and the things about the country had been discussed. "Your Highness we thought we are going to hear Princess Avni's thoughts on this, isn't she is going to say anything? Where is the child?" The councilman asked.
"Forgive me Councilman, Princess Avni is feeling under the weather. She couldn't attend this meeting." Margret chuckled dryly. "Something funny lady Margret about a person's illness?" The tone wasn't friendly.
"Look like Miss Avni realized she can never be a real princess to WinterDell, and decided that her opinions really don't count, but I have something to say councilmen, to all of you. There are few new things to be done. The run-down buildings to the east of the town are just a thorn in the beauty of our town. So, I thought maybe we can make something useful of that place, build a park, get some greenery, promote tourism. Won't it boost the revenue and annual income of the Country? I thought ahead and father approved too as the prime minister of this country." Callahan was only listening.
"And Prince Callahan too had signed over the papers for the demolition of those building, as of yesterday the project is underway, the poorer sections of the towns will be next, what we need is more income to come in our country, to increase the current trade rates, to help the people upon whom our economy depends, to engage the people in that trade." Callahan looked with a challenge on his eyes.
"What if they do not want to engage in the trade? We cannot force someone to do something they do not want to. I mean they are people with free will, they are not our slaves." Margret was up and walked in middle of the room
"Monarchy doesn't care about the free will of people, Monarchy cares about the well being of the people, and for the people to be well they need proper income source, we cannot just go around trying the idea of letting them engage in something else than the trade they had known for generations. Our king knew that and that what made him such a great ruler, maybe Prince Callahan would have been a better ruler if he had someone next to him to show what he is missing."
Before anyone else can say anything about this the Queen spoke. "Thank you for your insight Lady Margret, I assure you my son do have someone to show him that he didn't have to become a Monarch like his father. He is free to become a Monarch like his own self. And there is nothing wrong in ruling differently. Here I hold a letter addressed to me. Princess Avni isn't here, but her thoughts are, so I would like Philip, her royal advisor to read this to all of us" The Queen called in Philip.
Philip stood in front of the councilmen and took the paper in his hand.
"Your Highness, please forgive me for I am not well enough to attend the council meeting today, for I am feeling under the weather. But as you have requested, I have prepared some statements that I would like to present in front of you and the council, these few things I have noticed that are far amiss in this Kingdom, and I hope this will be enough to bring this to your notice.
First, this country needs to spend on infrastructure to promote different kinds of trades, we have enough craftsmen, enough men power but not enough opportunities to try what they can be best at. Woodwork is good, so is raising horses, but even if the old things are established well, there is always room for something new.
Second thing which I would like to bring to notice is the people who are very much underprivileged, The Orphans who are using the run down buildings of east part of the town as a shelter because there is where they born, their parents spent their life and all the neighborhood was now just lay deserted just a skeleton, because they were forced out of their home in the name of development, they too are part of this country and are very good children, they if can be given just an assurance that they can get back the place which they called home, they can become much more useful than in their current state. So, I would humbly request to restore that part of town as it was, maybe they will stop running away.
