"Adriana, meet Ashley Ramos, Jonathan Wright, and Juan Cuada. They are our medical advisors. And guys, this is Adriana. You remember, medical student from the US?" They all smiled at me and nodded. I was internally fangirling because I've heard so much about these guys.
They all looked very nice. Ashley looked like she was a bit older than me, Jonathan looked like he was in his 30s and Juan looked like he was late 20s. Nonetheless they looked like good hearted people.
"It's so nice to meet you all." I said putting my hand out. One by one they shook it and greeted me.
"I'll just leave you guys now, I have to go train these guys if we want a win! Oh and Adriana, you can take today and tomorrow off, the real work starts in two days because that's when everyone will be present. We need to start so you could help fix us up, accompanying our medic team of course." I nodded and coach left. I turned to see them seated at a table. I walked over to them.
"So Adriana, tell us about yourself." Ashley asked me gesturing to an empty seat. I smiled and sat down.
"Well my name is Adriana Scott. I graduated high school at the age of 17 with honors. My major is in Biological and Medical Physics. I decided to do the rest of my education in the US so I attended Stanford for my first two years of university but then I decided to attend Oxford in London, on scholarship, last year and I only have one more year left until I graduate next year. London is where I live as of now and so I live by myself. However, I was in Toronto before I came here because that's where I'm from. Canadian! And my dad has his stuff there." I said. Their faces looked so surprised. I weakly smiled. "I'm sorry, did I say something wrong?"
They seemed to recover when Jonathan said, "Look at this, we got ourselves a gifted pretty lady."
I could literally feel my face heat up.
"I'm sorry but, I'm just so amazed. You're so young and you've achieved so much." Ashley said.
"I'm just so glad to have you work with us." Juan said.
These guys were so nice. I laughed a bit. "Thank you so much. But it is I who has the honour to work with such well known professeurs." I looked at Ashley. "Your trilogy on The Physique sits on my bedside table." She smiled. I looked at Juan. "I have witnessed one of your lectures and oh my god, I have no words. In a good way." He laughed. "And Jonathan the first thing I do when I get home is read your blog." He chuckled.
"Tell us about your life back home. Family." I smiled weakly. "Oh, um, my mom died when I was little my dad is a very famous businessman in Canada. I have a brother named Chris, a sister in-law/best friend named Tara and a very adorable nephew named Xander. They all live in Toronto as well."
They smiled at me.
"Now I know why you sounded so familiar. Wait, but if your dad's a famous businessman, why don't you just takeover?" Juan asked.
"I was never interested in business. I was always more practical and more interested in medics. And besides, that's what Chris is for." I said laughing. They all joined me.
I stood up, off the chair and said, "It was so nice meeting all of you. If you'll excuse me, I want to go sleep. I'm actually very jet lagged. I'll talk to you guys in the morning?" I said. They nodded and said bye.
I headed to the room that coach showed me and my bags were already there. Awesome. I took out something to change out of the sundress I was wearing. I pulled out some pajama shorts and a tank top. I brushed my teeth and jumped into my bed.
Soon enough I was knocked out.
Which is exactly how I awoke. With knocking on my door. I groaned and got up off my bed. I opened the door to find a blond curly haired dude looking very excited. Alright then. "Can I help you?" His very happy and excited face went flat in less than a second. I looked at him confused. "I'm sorry, but who are you?"
He recovered and laughed. "Wow, coach was right, you don't know anyone here." Shit, research. Not done.
"Oh...um..." I stuttered.
"Don't sweat it. It's nice to know someone that doesn't know you." He said.
"That's exactly what coach said, I didn't recognize him either." I said.
He laughed. "I'm David Luiz. I play defender for CBF." He said and waved.
"Well I'm Adriana Scott, apart of your medical advisors team." He nodded.
"I'm just here to take you to breakfast. Coach's orders." I nodded knowing that I couldn't back out.
"Just give me 20 minutes, I'll meet you outside if that's okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, okay." He said. I shut the door and went straight to the shower.
After getting showered, I changed into black floral, long sleeve romper. I put on a pair of brown combat boots. I looked in the mirror and did a very natural make up look and did nothing to my hair. It was wavy from my top knot that I had yesterday. I looked once more in the mirror and widened my eyes. Where's the necklace?!
I ran back to the washroom and found it on the counter. I exhaled in relief and picked it up . I put it around my neck clasped it shut.
This necklace was mom's. Dad gave it to me when I was going off the university and said that no matter where I'll be she would always be with me. It was a silver chain with a silver circle locket pendant.
I got my phone and made my way out of the room. I then walked outside to the enterance and saw David waiting. I went up to him and said, "Alright. Let's go."
