He nodded and led me to a big room where there were a few people sitting and eating.
"This is our personal restaurant, as we like to call it, but really it's a cafeteria. All the meals happen here, unless you want to go out. That I don't suggest because it's a month before the world cup and we have to be focused." He said.
I nodded. He led me to an aged lady and said, "Margie, this is Adriana. She's apart of our medic team. Adriana, this is Margie, our second mom here." I smiled at the last part. Then it made em think. These boys must practice a lot here. I wonder if homesick was in the question.
"It's very nice to meet you." I said smiling.
"Me as well. David why don't you sit her down and I'll bring you both some breakfast." He nodded and led me to an empty table.
Margie brought our food over and sat in the empty chair across from me and beside David. "So, Adriana, what is a pretty girl like you doing here with a bunch of monkeys, working, when you could probably be on vacation." She asked playfully.
"Hey!" David said pouting. We laughed.
"Well I really needed this because there was no way I wanted my dad to provide for me. I want to be my own person so, here I am." I said taking a bit out of the waffles.
"Tell us about yourself." David asked drinking some orange juice.
I told them the same thing I told Ashley and them. David and Margie were shocked as well. Why can't they just be normal and say awesome? Why does everyone look shocked when I tell them this?
"We have a smart one." Margie said.
"Wait so you can graduate high school early but you don't know Brazil's NT for football?" He said teasingly.
"Football? I thought you guys played soccer. Isn't FIFA soccer?" I said confused.
Margie and David looked at each other and bursted out laughing. I was hella confused now.
Eventually they stopped laughing and David said, "Wow you really are Canadian. It's called football here."
I made an oh face.
"Margie, Neymar wants his breakfast now." Someone said walking into the cafeteria. He was ok tall but pretty buff. His accent was very Brazilian. Neymar..
"Tell him to come here." Margie said.
"He's not feeling well." He said. Yeah okay, the boy probably just wants breakfast in bed.
"Alright I'll take it to him." She looked at me. "It was nice talking to you, I'll see you at lunch!" She said leaving.
I smiled and waved bye.
I rolled my eyes. "What's up?" David asked me.
"Nothing." I said back.
"Come on I think we've known each other enough for you to tell me "
I laughed. "This Neymar, was it? Seems like a pain."
He laughed. "You're probably the only girl who thinks that. And to answer your concern, he probably isn't feeling well because of his life." He said the last part really vaguely so I understood not to ask further questions.
"Hey bro! How are you?" David said to the guy that was just talking to Margie.
"Hey David! Not bad, how about you?" He asked taking a seat in where Margie was sitting.
"Good." The guy looked at me and was, what looked like, about to introduce himself but David stopped him. "Wait don't say anything." He looked at me. "Adriana, do you know who this is?" I rolled my eyes, he knew I knew no one here.
"Of course she knows. Who doesn't know us?" The guy said confidently.
I raised my hand. "Guilty." David started laughing and in glared at him so he stopped.
The guy looked surprised.
"I know right. Coach told me and I was so surprised." David said.
"Ok you guys are so confident. Not everyone knows you." I said crossing my arms over my chest.
They laughed. "Sorry but it's just something you don't see everyday with us." The guy said. "I'm Thiago Silva by the way. I play defender for CBF and I'm the captain of the NT." He said.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Adriana." I said as I finished my waffles and started eating my fruits.
"She's the intern for the medical team." David said. Thiago nodded.
We continued talking and to my surprise it was actully really fun. I learned that Thiago was married; his wife's name was Isabele, he played defender and was captain for CBF.
"Well it was nice talking to you. A bunch of the guys and I were going to go swimming in the evening, would you like to join?" Thiago asked.
"I don't think-" I said
"Come on Adriana! It'll be fun!" David said.
I sighed and nodded my head. Oh well it was just swimming.
After breakfast I decided to make my calls back home and tell everyone I and arrived safely and had gotten settled. Apparently Xander said his first word which was mine! I couldn't stop laughing when Tara told me. I needed to hear him say it and see him so I requested a videochat with them. Xander kept saying mine and it was the most adorable thing ever. I missed them so much.
After that I decided to take a walk around the grounds and do a bit if exploring myself. I was walking around when I saw the big open field. In the sides there were many soccer balls laying around.
I looked around and saw no one around so I went over to the balls and picked one up. I twirled it on my finger before dropping it to my feet and started doing keep ups one foot at a time. This reminded me of a trick I used to do. It was called a crossover. This was when you juggle the ball up, swing your foot over it, and then catching the ball with your ground foot. It looked easier than it actually was.
I did it and suddenly felt really proud of myself. All the memories of me playing cane back. There was a time when this sport was my life. I just couldn't get enough. And now look at me. I'm amongst, allegedly, some really good players. Who would've thought.
I was doing some more keep ups when heard someone say, "What are you doing here?"
I turned around and my eyes were met with a pair of pretty hazel eyes. He was okay tall, maybe built and very hot. This guy was astoundingly good to look at.
"I could ask you the same thing." I asked. He looked kind of shocked.
"I asked, what are you doing here?" He said. He was wearing a black fitted muscle tank with some shorts and running shoes. His hair was just. I don't even know what to say. Weirdly hot? Ugh snap out of it. His eyes suddenly widened. "You're not a fan are you because you aren't allowed on the property and if-"
"Relax. I'm not an outsider." I rolled my eyes. He nodded and walked up to me. "Who are you anyways?" I asked.
The shocked expression was once again visible. "You seriously don't know me?" He asked.
"I'm sorry, should I? Wait this is actually all my fault because I'm supposed to know all the players here but I don't and-"
"It's okay." He said rather quick. "You..um aren't supposed to know me." I looked at him confused. "I mean, I'm just staff, not a player." Oh so he wasn't a player.
"Oh okay. Well I'm Adriana. I'm the new intern for the medical advisors." He nodded. "You didn't answer my question, who are you? I know you're staff but I'm asking for-"
"Joia." He said cutting me off. Oh okay then.
"Alright then." I said.
