Russell's Cousin- Lando Norris story

Do you take it?

As you sat in front of your laptop wondering what you had just done you got a call from George asking if he could come over for you to strap up his ankle taht he injured from running.
"Really? How the hell do you manage these things? Never mind. Be quick and I'll strap it up"
"Thank you Anna I owe you one"
"You owe me more than one but family first"

George has been with his girlfriend out running when he sprained his ankle but it was becoming inflamed and he was unable to wear his race boots for his sim so it needed to be iced and strapped up.

George arrived after twenty minutes limping his way in to the kitchen where you was sat at the table.
"Hey Anna, sorry for the bother"
"No worries, is Seychelle not coming in?" You asked
"No she had to get back to London for a photo shoot so I'm alone for the next few days so thought I'd try to get my foot sorted now."
"Ah right, yeah makes sense."
"What have you been doing then, you have a lot of papers laying around" George asked as he sat on a chair putting his foot on a table.
"Oh um- so do you remember that job lando mentioned at the New Year's Eve party? Well I decided to apply."
"You what?"
"It's a long shot and I probably won't get it but I applied anyways. Um-"
"I'm so happy you went for it! You deserve a full time placement. But I am gonna miss you not being around."
"I'm sure I'll still be allowed to see my cousin. It's not illegal ahah"
"True but you're gonna be literally the other side of the paddock"
"I have legs. I can walk you idiot"
"Oh yeah"
"I'm glad you race cars instead of go to university because you say some stupid stuff"
"Oi!"
"Would you like fixing or not?" You asked in a sarcastic tone to his remark

George didn't stay for long as he had sim training that afternoon so you waited for an email from McLaren asking for an interview time for you to go in.

Dear miss Anna Taylor,

The McLaren team would like to invite you to our test centre in Woking this Thursday at 11am for an interview regarding your position as a physiotherapist. One of our drivers will meet you at reception then escort you to Zaks office to discuss your previous roles and experiences.
We look forward to meeting with you,

Holy shit! An interview! This Friday. It's already Wednesday. Oh my god. You had to get a full brief together of past work along with a write up and case study for examples of injury's you had covered. For this Friday.

And like that Friday came round the corner, you hadn't told anyone about going to Woking apart from George obviously and Williams racing but your heart was beating so fast you was scared you would pass out.

The glass building before you had a grand entrance through to a reception area where a woman in black and an orange lanyard was sat behind a desk.
"Hi im Anna Taylor, I'm here for an interview with Zak"
"Good morning miss Taylor, yes if you just wait a minute I'll give Mr Norris a call for you to be escorted through the building. I believe you have a small tour before hand."
"Oh thank you." You said as she passed you a green landward. Mr Norris- of course it would be lando.

You straightened your hair up perfectly and quickly re applied some lip balm as you felt yourself getting flustered.

A door opened and lando popped round the corner, "I'm here for miss Taylor?" He said looking to you.
"Hello.."
"Hi I'm lando, great to meet you" he said shaking your hand
"You too, thank you" you said and he opened the door for you to walk through.

"Nice to meet you, lando I've met you" you laughed
"Sorry I will just have to act as if I don't know you to keep it fair in zaks eyes. Anyways welcome to McLaren HQ"
"It's lovely! Really it's an amazing building."
"Let me take you to the show room first, then we will nip to my office before I take you to Zak. Oh he's really looking forward to meeting you. He said your online form was outstanding."
"I suppose that's good then" you said feeling more nerves build up.

Lando was so relaxed just waking around in his hoodie and joggers while your heels clicked on the marvel flooring all the time. He kept just looking into your eyes as if he's in another world though
"Is everything ok?" You said as you caught him looking at you look at a car
"Yes I'm- I'm brilliant. Couldn't be better"
"You keep looking at me, do I look ok?"
"Um I think you look really pretty actually"
"Thank you" you said with a kind smile as you felt your cheeks heat up.

After the small tour lando walked you to Zaks office.
"Now the only time you should be here is for something really good, otherwise your here for something really bad aha"
"Oh no pressure then lando"
"Of course not for you! You've got this. Just be you"

You took a deep breath as lando knocked on the door waiting for Zak to call you both in.
When he did you saw three chairs on one side of the table opposite to him.
"Good morning Anna, great time finally meet you, I'm Zak."
"Lovely to meet you too" you replied sharing his hand.
"Please take a seat, lando you too. Carlos will join us in a bit." Zak said before offering you a glass of water.
"Ok so, let's get started..."

The interview was really relaxed and only lasted around thirty minutes before Carlos joined you. Then Zak has lando and Carlos ask you some questions to help them get a feel for you. Most of them were personality questions and questions about your spare time.

"I think we are all done" Zak said standing up and you all followed by shaking his hand. "We will let you know by 5pm this evening on our decision. Thank you Anna"
"Thank you for the opportunity, I hope to see you all soon" you said as Carlos and lando walked you out.

"So how do you think you got on Anna?" Carlos asked
"I think it went very well. How did I do?" You said looking at lando for an answer
"Amazing! I think you have it in the bag"
"Really?"
"Yes" they both replied in unison.

"Goodbye Anna, I have to go but lando will walk you to reception. I'm sure he will enjoy that" Carlos said giving you a wave
"Sorry about him" lando said
"No don't worry, I understand" you laughed
"He hasn't stopped since New Year's Eve." Lando said as you walked through a single door back through the show room. As you did so lando let you walk first and effortlessly placed his hand on your lower back to guide you through. This touch took you by surprise and you turned to look at him.
"Sorry I didn't mean to-" lando said
"No don't worry I didn't mind at all" you said and both of you laughed in a child like manner.

The rest of the walk was in silence and before you got to reception lando stopped you.
"I know I've only met you a handful of times but I was wondering if you would like to meet me after work this evening. I was planning on going for a walk if you would like to join me?" Lando asked
"Sure, yeah ok I'll meet you at 4 then?" You asked with a smile
"I'll pick you up from yours at 4. I still remember where you live from the party. Make sure to dress warm it might be chilly"
"I will, see you tonight then lando" you said walking into reception
"See you then Anna" he said with a smile and a professional handshake as people were around. As you turned to leave you snuck one more smile at him before turning the corner to your car.
