Russell's Cousin- Lando Norris story

Don't tell Lando!

(This chapter is massively dramatised and I'd say is the only chapter so far where I've exaggerated an event so much.)

This weekends race is at the Red Bull Ring in Austria followed by another the week after so McLaren had arranged private villas in the mountains for the team, luckily you and lando didn't have to share with anyone so you were treating it as a two week 'holiday'. It was far from relaxing but the time you got to chill out would be worth it; mountain walks, the private pool and spa was already on the list.

It was Friday morning and you were getting ready before FP1 while lando was going through final runs for what the team wanted to achieve for the day.

Mick: I'm going to get lunch after practice, do you and lando want to meet me?
You: of course we can! We will walk down to Haas after. If lando can't make it I'll definitely be there
Mick: okay, see you later :)

After speaking with Mick at the past few races you found out how lonely he sometimes got at races. Naturally he was very quiet and shy around people and never wanted to bother people about making plans so he said he usually just sat in his trailer by himself or sat watching the mechanics. His mum and sister weren't always able to make it to races unlike Lando who constantly had your support or Charles who has Charlotte. Having a friend he could trust like you was what the young German needed.

As you brought landos helmet through to the garage where he was stood with his engineers, Andreas shouted you over to from the pit wall.
"Anna!" He shouted and you were quick to make a move over. "Anna, can you ask Will to run a full tank of fuel with lando at some point? We want to see some consistent lap times"
"Sure thing, have a good session" you replied before walking back across the pit lane to Lando and Will.

"Can you run a full tank at some point today?" You asked
"Yeah probably fp2 because we want to run some DRS trails in the first and get a feel for tires before it rains"
"Yeah no worries, Andreas just asked me to let you know" you smiled. "How are you feeling?" You asked lando. He turned to you with those ocean eyes from just above his mask.
"Good, I'm hungry" he complained
"Your always hungry but you never stop eating"
"Growing boy" he laughed
"Growing? Your 21 I think your done, not like I can do much better" you laughed. Being a Russell meant your whole family was tall apart from on your mums side which is where you must of taken the height gene from.

"Mick asked if we want lunch with him?" You said as Jon handed lando a granola bar
"Can do, is he ok?" He asked
"Yeah, I think he just gets a bit lonely at times but he enjoys our company. He says he feels relaxed with us"
"Yeah sure, if anything major pops up you will have to go yourself but it's fine don't worry" he said with a smile under his mask as you put your arm around his waist.

"Ok lando we are ready to roll when you are" Will said and lando was quick to hand you the rest of the uneaten granola bar and give you a quick kiss before jumping into the car.
"Be careful" you shouted over the engines and you revived a nod back as he pulled on his helmet.

(After practice)

"Great work there lando, Andreas has been watching the weather and we are expecting rain so do you mind bringing lunch to the meeting room to run a new checklist for second practice?" Will said
"Urm can do yeah give me a few minutes" lando replied.

You felt the familiar hands slip around your waist from behind as you were stood at the coffee machine.
"Hey stranger" you smiled
"Hey, Andreas wants a meeting so I'll have to pass on coming with you if that's ok"
"Yeah no worries, I'll be back before practice"
"Don't worry, I'm fine I'll keep warm and loosen off before. Don't rush back" lando cooed
"Ok, I might go down to Williams and just check in. Carmen is with George so I'll go speak to her but I'll be back for when your out" you smiled
"No worries, be careful. Love you" lando said as he had to quickly leave to make the meeting in time. Daniel also ran past you a few moments later with his lunch so he was also going to be with his engineers.
