Redemption and apologies

Canada was a track you loved visiting but since the Baku incident you had been grounded at Mercedes HQ and you had been on caution to wether you would travel or not. To take the stress off yourself you flew out a day before the team just to rest up as you had minor lung damage with no long term effects but it was still heavy to breathe.

Surprisingly, landos lungs were perfectly clear of any smoke damage and was given a green light to continue with caution around 48 hours after you arrived at hospital. He sat by your bed side as soon as he was checked over and waiting until he was forced to leave Wednesday morning to travel to Canada. These hours gave you time with Lando to talk. To talk about each other, what you want from each other and what happened at the track that day. Mick never sent a message or text. His mum text you saying how guilty he feels you didn't get out sooner. You didn't need to hear more from him, you just replied saying thank you for his concern.

Angela kindly was looking after both George and Lewis this week which was a god send on you as when you met with the team Thursday morning at breakfast, Toto spoke with you and requested you didn't work the weekend. Of course this was hard to hear but he gave you the option of doing this weekend or being fit enough for the challenge of Silverstone. You chose the Silverstone option.

Mercedes were offering you VIP access as a guest that weekend, allowing you to relax but still have full access to your normal areas around the paddock and garage.

Canada race day was dryer than qualifying but still not 100%, both cars were looking sharp with George being mr consistency again but Lewis took a p3 podium which was a massive step for the team since the physical pain Baku gave them in qualifying and the events of race day.

Angela even made a bet that if Lewis finished on the podium she would jump in the river, he followed this up very quickly after, throwing her in after she tried to grab on for dear life.

The few days rest were what you needed and the best part about it was a weekend off after even though George was running at Goodwood Festival of Speed which was only a days work and wasn't as stressful as a race day.

Once you landed back in the UK the Tuesday after the race weekend you were met by Max, landos best mate, at the airport to take you back to your parents house were lando would meet you that evening when he landed too. This would be the first time you were back with your parents in over a year but also them being with lando again knowing how much he broke your heart. Your mum had made a large buffet of BBQ nibbles as your dad was getting the charcoal ready outside. You went over to him, wrapped in a large hoodie and joggers
"Hey" you said snuggling into him
"Hiya princess, how are you feeling?" He asked still concerned for you thinking you shouldn't be doing anything
"I'm ok, just glad to be home"
"What time does Lan land?" He asked
"Around half four ish. He should be in the car on his way now"
"I just want him to know he messed up and that-"
"Dad. Please. It's all ok now"
"I know. But your my daughter. I want to protect you"
"Dad. Please don't embarrass me anymore than you already do" you laughed as you got a text from lando saying he was ten minutes away

You sat in the bay windows waiting for his orange McLaren to roll up and as soon as you heard it roar around the corner and you heart exploded. You ran to the door to greet him and he stepped out holding a large bouquet of flowers.

"I missed you" you said through a smile
"I missed you too" he said kissing your forehead 
"They are beautiful" you said as you admired the flowers.
"Aren't they just, they aren't for you though. There for your mum to say sorry for me being a dickhead" he said kicking the ground
"Well I'm sure she will appreciate them" you laughed as you walked him through the house to the back

Sorry this chapter is a short one but today (Thursday) I've been busy at Silverstone and can't wait for this weekend! I have so much planned and I have to say lando and Daniels space hopper challenge is definitely making it in this book. So glad to be seeing them laughing and joking instead of being down.
