Later the next night, I was in my room studying and jamming to music when my door flew open.

"Dinners ready sweetheart," my mom said as she popped through the door. "Okay, I'll be down in a second," I said while closing my laptop and turning my music off. "Oh, and let your brother know. I think he's on the phone with Stiles, and how uncool would it be for your mom to interrupt," she joked. I laughed, "Okay, will do mom."

Her mentioning Stiles reminded me that he had something to tell me. I had almost forgotten because he somewhat avoided me all day. I guess it wasn't that important, or he was just too scared to tell me.

I got up out of my chair and went across the hall to Scott's door when I heard him talking to someone. Mom said he was on the phone, but the second voice seemed as if they were in the room with him.

I quietly pressed my ear to the door listening. "If you even try to play in that game, I'm gonna kill you myself," said the man on the other side of the door. That definitely didn't sound like Stiles, but somehow sounded very familiar.

Without knocking, I barged into Scott's room, "Scott what-" I started and looked around but it was just him standing and staring at the other side of his room.

"Who was just in here?" I questioned knowing I wasn't crazy. I heard someone threaten him.

"What? No one," Scott assured in a shaken tone.

I gave him a questioning look, "Mom said dinners ready...."

"Okay, I'll be down in a sec," Scott stated and I nodded. I started walking back to my room when I saw Derek's jacket on my desk chair. I never told Scott about Derek.

"By the way, I forgot to tell you," I said turning around. "Derek said Hi," I said making Scott stiffen. "Derek?" Scott questioned and I nodded. "Yeah, you guys aren't friends?" I asked. "No," he said making me confused. "No you don't know him or no you're not-"

"Yes, I know him. When did you talk to him?" Scott cut me off in a dead serious tone.

"He, uh, was the one who gave me a ride home from the party last night," I said just knowing his reaction wouldn't be good. "He said he was a recent friend of yours and to tell you hi."

"Mia, listen. He's not a friend and you need to be careful around him. He can be very dangerous and I don't wanna see you get hurt," Scott warned. I furrowed my brows confused at him.

How could the Derek I talked to last night be dangerous or even capable of hurting another person?? He's the one who has been hurt.

I just kept my thoughts to myself and slowly nodded my head. "Okay, I'll be careful. Promise."

The next school day, I walked in with Stiles and Scott. As I went to my locker, I heard a bunch of people whispering. I looked around and saw a bunch of people staring down at their phones in terror. I tried listening to a group of people closer to us to see what was going on. I didn't make out much of the conversation but I caught the last part where they said, "At least the killer got caught."

"What's everyone whispering about?" I asked the boys. Scott and Stiles looked at each other then back to me. "Derek Hale was arrested last night," Stiles explained.

"Arrested?! Arrested for what?" I questioned starting to get frightened.

"For murder. That body we found in the woods, they found it in his back yard. Buried."

My heart started racing. I was completely shocked. I shared a lot with him the night of the party. He drove me home. He could've murdered me.

"Oh my god," I whispered out in disbelief.

"I told you he was dangerous Mia," Scott spoke noticing the horror on my face. "And now he's a criminal in jail."

The bell rang and the boys started to walk away to their classes, but I pulled on Stiles' arm dragging him behind. "Hey, wait," I spoke.

"What's up?" He asked confused as to why I pulled him back. "You never told me that thing you wanted to when we were on the phone," I stated.

"Oh, uh, don't worry about that. I was just, uh, gonna tell you that you're.....a great friend and perfect addition to our...circle?" Stiles spoke unsure of every word he was saying. I nodded my head not believing that was the real thing he wanted to tell me, but I went along with it anyways. "Oh, well I'm glad you think so. You are a great friend yourself," I smiled and he smiled back.

"Well, you should get to class. Don't wanna be late," He joked and awkwardly walked away.

I knew Stiles was lying.

I wonder what he really wanted to tell me.

After my last class ended, I gathered my books into my bag, then headed out of the classroom. I noticed there was a group of boys from the lacrosse team talking loudly outside the door.

"Man did you hear McCall isn't playing tonight," one of them said and the boys all laughed. "Yeah, told Coach he had 'personal problems', whatever that means." another boy said, this time I knew it was Jackson. The guy I despised. Don't think that one needs explaining.

Why was Scott telling the coach he couldn't play?

As I continued walking, I texted Scott asking him about the game.

Why'd you tell Coach you weren't playing tonight? - Mia

I hoped this had nothing to do with what I had overheard the other night in Scott's room...

That's when it started to click. The voice in Scott's room. Derek. Who would go around threatening to kill someone? Derek? He was just arrested for murder, but why would he not want Scott to play in the game? He's arrested now, so why would Scott still comply?

There were so many questions going on in my mind, and I needed to get to the bottom of it.
