The next day at school, I rode with Stiles alone. Stiles was still mad at Scott for not answering his texts about the video he found, plus he blamed Scott for being the reason his dad got hurt.

Last night Mr. Argent shot the wild mountain lion that was said to be the cause of the random animal attacks, but there was chaos and Stiles' dad got hurt in the process.

"So how's your dad?" I asked Stiles as we walked to class together. "He's doing okay, just been extra busy at the station lately with filling out unsolved cases that have been solved since the other night."

"Sounds...fun," I said sarcastically making him laugh.

We entered the class and a few moments later Scott walked in and looked at the both of us. He took his seat behind Stiles, making me look between the two waiting for something to happen. "Still not talking to me?" Scott questioned. "Can you at least tell me if your dad is okay? I mean it's just a bruise, right?"

Stiles turned to me, "Can you tell your brother, he's fine and no I'm not talking to him." I turned to Scott about to repeat what stiles said but instead was cut off.

"You know I feel really bad about it, right?"

Stiles remained silent and stared straight forward.

"Okay, what if I told you I'm trying to figure this whole thing out, and that I went to Derek for help," Scott told making Stiles sigh. "If I was talking to you, I would say you're an idiot for trusting him. But obviously," He said motioning to me, "I'm not talking to you."

Well, I'm glad Stiles didn't call me an idiot after somewhat hinting that I'm with Derek.

With Derek? Am I with Derek?

The bell rang signifying the start of class. I started to get ready for class by getting out my textbook, notebook, and pens. I started taking notes on what was written on the board when I heard Stiles sigh in defeat and then ask, "What did he say?"

I smiled to myself knowing Stiles wouldn't be able to resist not talking to Scott.

Before I knew it, school was ending as the final bell rang. I was making my way to Stiles' jeep when I got a text.

Scott: Stiles' plan got us into detention. Can you go to the animal clinic and cover for me?

I groaned at this text, I didn't want to have to go all the way to Deaton's to fill in for Scott. Plus, who would drive me? Mom won't get off work till 5, and I know Scott is supposed to be there right after school.

I was walking down the hall beginning to text Scott back when I bumped into someone, causing their books to fall to the ground. "I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed bending down to pick them up, and when I looked up it was as if my prayers were answered.

I met eyes with Lydia.

"Oh my god, Lydia!" I said wrapping my arms around her. She took a second to hug back, which made me instinctively pull away. "Sorry, I didn't mean to get all excited. I just had heard what happened and was worried," I explained as we picked up the things she dropped on the ground.

"No worries, I appreciate the love," Lydia said but didn't mention what had happened so I decided to not push it. "So how are you? I haven't seen you since my party, which you rudely left in the middle of by the way...with a guy," she said eyeing me suspiciously making me laugh. "It wasn't like that I swear."

"Hmm? Then what was it like?" she pressed and I shrugged my shoulders. I remained silent not knowing how to answer.

Where do I even start with telling her about Derek? How much do I tell her?

"That's what I thought," she said taking my silence as a response.

I playfully rolled my eyes, "Fine, believe what you want to believe. but hey, I hate to ask, but would you mind giving me a ride somewhere?" I asked. "To the boy?" she joked. "I'm kidding, of course!" she said linking her arm with mine as we started walking. "Where to?"

"Remember the animal clinic Scott works at?" I asked and she nodded. "I have to cover for him 'cause he and Stiles got detention for doing who knows what," I joked making her laugh as well. "Oh gosh, they never change I guess. To the animal clinic, it is!"

After a short walk, we approached her car and got in. I thought riding with her might be awkward since we haven't hung out one-on-one in over a year, but it was just the opposite. We talked about our lives like we normally did and it felt so natural. She filled me in on everything I've missed between her and Jackson, while I finally decided to fill her in on Derek and everything that's gone on between us, minus the werewolf things. It was a great until we finally arrived at the animal clinic

"Lydia," I spoke before getting out of the car. "I'm sorry I lost touch with you throughout freshman year. We were best friends, and I fucked that up. It's all my fault, I should never have ditched you for them and..."

"Don't apologize," Lydia said cutting me off and grabbing my hand. "Us no longer communicating went both ways, it wasn't all your fault.....I'm sorry too. I should've stayed by your side instead of straying from it..."

"So, all is forgiven?" I asked giving a small smile. She nodded while smiling as well, "Obviously! Friends again?" She asked making my smile grow bigger. "Absolutely!" I exclaimed while pulling her in for a hug.

On the inside, I sighed in happiness. After everything I've gone through, and all the change in the past year, I'm glad I can have one normal thing back.

Lydia.

"Ugh, I should probably go in," I said releasing from our hug. I grabbed my bag and opened the door. "Have fun!" Lydia said. "Oh don't worry I will," I said sarcastically and got out of the car.

"Thanks again for the ride!" I smiled. "Anytime," She smiled back and I shut the door.

As I walked into the clinic, the little bell on the top of the door rang, and out came Deaton. "Mia? What're you doing here?" Deaton questioned as he noticed my presence.

Oh great, Scott didn't even tell him I was coming.

"Uh, Scott got a little....tied up at school. He didn't mention it to you?" I questioned and Deaton shook his head. "No, nothing," He said proceeding to fold his arms while listening to what I had to say.

"Well, I came to cover for him and help you out," I said giving a reassuring smile and hoping Scott would just show up any minute.

"I'm glad he at least found coverage this time," He sighed. "However, we shouldn't have many customers tonight, so you can just help me clean some things up and I'll teach you some of the ropes!" He smiled making me smile back. "Sounds good!" I spoke as I started to get to work.

A few hours passed, but it felt like nothing. I was actually having some fun with Scott's job. Helping Deaton clean the place up was boring, but he showed me a lot of the in's and out's of the animal clinic. Luckily, I only had to help deal with two customers and they were just coming to get a routine checkup.

"I think you're really getting the hang of this, maybe I should hire you too," Deaton joked. I opened my mouth to speak but stopped when we both heard the front door open as the bell jingled.

"Scott, you were late again. I hope this isn't going to be a habit," He spoke raising his voice so Scott could hear him from the front. We both looked up when there was silence and saw someone standing there who wasn't Scott.

It was Derek.
