During the next few weeks, nothing notable happened. Y/n refused to tell Nicole what had happened in fear that the tall blue cat would attack a certain someone. After the first day, she fell into a kind of sleep-walking daze where she'd mumble things and suddenly snap, looking beaten down and tired.

She never tried to think about what had happened. Her thoughts drifted to that horrible Christmas where she could only say, 'he left the t.v on'. More than ever in her silence did she try to understand what she'd meant.

Not realizing it, weeks had passed. Her little friend group began to disband after they got the idea that they'd never have to break into Superintendent's office... even he stopped showing up to school.

Clare, who spent most classes with Y/n, attempted conversation one February day.

"It's Valentine's day next week," She tried to say, conversationally. Y/n looked at her. Clare faltered. "I-I was wondering if... if you could put in a good word for me?"

"With who?" Y/n mumbled, bewildered that someone had talked to her.

"Y'know... Hotdog Guy. Do you remember him?"

Did she remember him? Hahahaha.

"Oh. Yeah."

Ever since Y/n fell into her daze Hotdog Guy had grown accustomed to trying to talk to her every day. It seemed like he meant well, but it just got on Y/n's nerves. She blocked out the needless conversation the hotdog attempted with her new need of figuring out her past.

"Yeah, you'll put in a good word?" Clare's tone was hopeful. She was squeezing her geography book tightly to her chest and leaning closer to Y/n, evidently eager.

"Alright," Y/n agreed. "I'll try to talk to him."

"Try? He never leaves your side, it's great I was able to talk to you while he needed the toilet!"

Y/n blinked. Were they always having this conversation by her locker, or did they just get here? She heard a door open and Hotdog Guy emerged from the boys' toilets. She hadn't noticed that they were in the hallway. "I never noticed..." She mumbled.

"Haha, very funny Y/n. He's always with you. It's like you have a lost puppy dog, he won't leave your side," She sounded a little envious.

Y/n shivered. She'd always wondered what it would be like if she was on the receiving end of a Gumball crush- where they follow you around in school and stare at you with such creepy, loving eyes- now she was getting her answer. Through Hotdog Guy.

He looked at her then, his shades, despite covering his eyes, displayed the symptom of the Gumball crush. Y/n found herself recoiling.

"I have to get to class... but please put in a good word!" Clare whispered and scurried off. Hotdog Guy approached her, beaming.

"Er- hello?" She felt like she was talking to a stranger.

Hotdog Guy barely processed the greeting before his smile widened. "You spoke to me," That made Y/n wonder how long she hadn't been speaking to him.

"Um... yeah. I did. I wanted to talk to you... about Clare."

"Clare Cooper?" He stared after the green-haired girl for a moment. "What about her?"

Y/n shrugged. "I dunno... I heard she has a thing for you,"

Hotdog Guy's eyebrows raised. "She does?" There wasn't much interest in his tone, more of a surprise.

"Mhm. I-errr- have been secretly shipping you for a while. I would love it if you got together- for Valentine's day," She invented off the top of her head.
