//More of an exposition chapter than anything... enjoy!//
Looking back wasn't easy for Y/n a few months before Christmas. The only things she could look back on were her old foster homes and her real family. Not much to be proud of. The worst thing to remember was the Christmas after her mom had left.
She and her dad had begun the phase I wish to call 'Grinch-ism'. Christmas called to them, a holiday that they usually liked when part of a full family unit, but without m/n it wasn't a jolly holiday anymore.
They still opened their (two) presents. They ate their poorly prepared food. (Y/n's mom was a baker and they always had a nice cake for dessert, which she also sold in their store. Y/n's dad was the brains behind it and had no idea how to cook anything except ramen noodles.) But something was worse about d/n that weighed down their already depressing Christmas.
Y/n wouldn't realize what actually happened to him for another four years after, but she already had an idea when he did it. He'd been relentless the week up till Christmas, and Y/n was thinking (in her little 10-year-old mind) that he had the big depressed, or whatever her friend in school called it. He hardly slept or ate, but as far as she knew he still made regular bathroom trips.
They already had Felicity in their lives since Y/n's teacher at school had noticed how bad it had gotten and called up some people. Felicity was the nicest social worker they could have gotten. She came over for Christmas that day.
But she only found Y/n by the tree.
When asked what happened to her dad, Y/n seemed to only be able to say, "He left the t.v on,".
Even four years on she couldn't remember what she meant or much of that Christmas. Only the ones afterward did she look back on and vividly recall.
The one after her eleventh, with the Clark's. They were terrible people and clearly a rushed choice for Felicity. They treat her badly and soon enough she was gone. Socks only.
The one after her twelfth, with the Jones's. Who would've known they were spies and she was a decoy foster child? Toy plane and a phone.
The most memorable (so far) with the family she could best remember (so far). The Gatherson Pack. They were a Spanish wolf family. They didn't really celebrate Christmas, but they understood she would've and got her a book of Spanish words so she could understand what they said. If you're wondering why the word Gatherson isn't Spanish, it's because-
1.The head (the male) is a lawyer and not a wolf, and it's his last name.
2.I made it up.
And then Christmas in her fourteenth year hadn't even begun, so I can't tell you about that one yet.
Hm, but what could've you missed? Oh, yeah... I was hyping up that play thing Gumball and Penny are the stars of. But you know that story. Unfortunately, spending most nights with Rob (against his wishes that she shouldn't sneak out), she was only awake for the first act.
So seeing Penny in all her shape-shifting glory the next day was a little surprising, but with all the shenanigans in that town, she soon got used to it.
Then there's the gift for Y/n's birthday that Rob got her. You'd never guess... ice-cream. Just kidding, he found out about her dropped cake and got her an extremely large ice-cream cake as a substitute. Most were still hidden, waiting to be eaten.
And a book that Y/n liked called 'Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac' (read it, the main character is an orphan, too... also, as you guessed... an amnesiac!). She enjoyed it many times over. Some part of her wished she could be an amnesiac.
That's about it... oh, no... I'm wrong... there was this weird day where Hotdog Guy was a little too nice and friendly with her, and ever since he had been weird. It was ever since the day she and Rob got together. Y/n couldn't put her finger on it, but it seemed like he wanted to be good friends...
(Yeah, said Adrien Agreste.)
