Later that night I got a message from Jacob. I was more than flattered about how quickly he reached out to me. He told me about the agreement that the werewolves and the vampires had made to protect Bella. He told me that this weekend Bella would be staying with Jacob for a day and Edward the other day. He asked me to go with him on both days. Talking to Jacob over text wasn't forced either. It wasn't a long conversation but it put me at ease. He promised we'd be able to do some werewolf training. I wonder what that entails.

I put my phone down on my bedside table and walked down the steps to find Edward and Bella kissing on the sofa. I grumbled so they knew I was here. They didn't seem to care at all and in fact, Bella brought him deeper into the kiss. A pang of jealousy shot through my chest. Sometimes I wondered if she does these things on purpose. It wouldn't matter soon anyways.

I was going to make food but decided against it when I knew Bella and Edward wouldn't be finishing anytime soon. I walked back up to my room and standing at the top of the steps was Jasper.

"Dawn," he said in his semi-thick accent. I smiled awkwardly at him.

"Hey Jas," I said.

"How are you doing?" He asked. I looked down at the bottom of the stairs remembering Edward's lips locked on Bella's. Their synched movements. The way his hand slid around her neck like it used to do to mine. How the only sound in the room was the beating of her heart, their heavy breathes and their lips moving together. It made my knees go weak.

"Dawn?" Jasper asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Edward and Bella are making out downstairs," I said matter-of-factly. I didn't let Jasper react. I knew it would only be the same as everyone else's. Fake pity. I didn't want to hear it anymore.

Finally, I could climb out of the car and leave the silence of the ride behind. Jacob leaned against his car shirtless. This was the first time I've seen his whole upper body unclothed. It was eye-catching. His muscular abs, his pecks, the way each muscle twitched with natural power. His shoulders bulged in his broad stance. I walked right up to him as Bella and Edward were saying their goodbyes. He smiled when he saw me, a toothy enchanting grin that made my chest tighten in a familiar way.

"Hey vampy," he said and pulled me into a surprise hug. I definitely didn't mind. I was glad he was a hugger. The Cullens weren't which was unfortunate for someone who's love language is touch. In a way, it made every stroke, tap, or pat of skin a little more intimate.

His large arms wrapped perfectly around my neck and shoulder. I brought my arms up from underneath and held on to the back of his shoulders. When we pulled away after a few minutes and we both leaned back on his car. A giddy smile forced itself on my lips as I continued to feel the ghost of his touch across my body.

Just when I thought Bella was finally about to walk over here Edward pulled her into a kiss. It was a deep, passionate and taunting kiss. I made a face of disgust as I saw their mouths open and close together. I scoffed and looked over at Jacob who was looking at me with a clenched jaw.

"You have to live with this shit?" he asked me.

"You don't even know the half of it," I said seethed.

"Why does it bother you so much anyway?" he asked. I bit the inside of my cheek as I tried to find the right way to put it without telling him we were mates.

"Edward and I were together before he met Bella," I said. Jacob's eyebrows rose.

"Guess we're in a similar boat here," he said. I nudged him in the arm, and he pulled his gaze away from the couple before placing it onto me.
