I struggled to put on my dress. My ankle was almost fully healed now, it only gave me pain if I overworked it. Alice was behind me, helping me slip the dress up my strong body. It was undeniably beautiful but incredibly tight. I managed to break out a sweat just trying to slither it on. Of course, I didn't pick out the dress, Alice did. I wanted to skip prom all together and call in sick but that wasn't an option. Not if Carlisle or Alice has a say in it.

Alice struggled to zip me up as I held in my breath and sucked in my stomach. I hated dressing up but it wasn't often that I did. She finally got the zipper to the top and I slowly breathed out in fear of breaking the dress. However that didn't happen. Actually, I looked in the mirror and for the first time I actually admired what I saw stare back. Was this really me?

I've noticed my mood changing the more I hung out with Jacob. I had more energy, I could finally sleep and eat again, it was such an improvement from my previous state.

"You look beautiful!" Alice beamed, already wearing her dress. I looked awkwardly to the floor, the corner of my mouth twitching into a short smile.

"It's all because of you," I said and pulled her into a hug so she couldn't see my appreciative smile.

"Oh!" Alice exclaimed in my ear, causing me to flinch. She pried herself away from me and ran out of the room. It wasn't long before she came running back and handed me a small black box with golden ribbon. Alice must've noticed my confusion because she excitedly bounced on her heels and said, "open it, open it!"

"Okay," I said half amused by Alice's excitement and half confused by the box. I pulled on the ribbon, and opened the top. Inside was a beautiful silver necklace with an extremely expensive looking lapis rock in the centre. Engraved on the stone was a very specific design that only two people in the world knew about. It looks almost like a spiral with a messy line through it. I know exactly who gave me this necklace. I frowned.

Alice's smile faded slowly as I picked up a small card in the corner of the box, it wrote:

'I remember you once telling me blue was your favourite colour. I hope you wear this to graduation.
- Edward'

The stone perfectly matched my dress. How did he know?

Alice.

I couldn't take my anger out on her, in fact I couldn't take my anger out at all. It was a generous gift but does he honestly think bribing me will make me warm up to him? I held back the urge to scoff and swallowed down my tasteless words. I have to be unbothered by this or else it won't be fair to anyone. I'm not a reserved person but I had to do this.

"Can you put it on for me?" I asked Alice after a while of staring daggers at the letter Edward wrote me. Alice's smile quickly returned.

"Yes of course! Do you love it?" She asked while clipping the necklace at the back of my neck.
