As we stare each other down, I can hear Emily's distant cries. My face softens as I turn to see her sprinting down the beach with Jacob and a few others on her heel. She's crying for the fight to stop but now that Sam is unconscious, it's up to Leah to make the final decision.
The other female werewolf doesn't even look back. She lets out a low and continuous growl, leaning down in a position ready for attack. I take a step back and look at the rest of the pack, begging for her to cease the fight. But she only barks powerfully at me, scaring Emily to the floor. I bark back but in a pleading manner, followed by a desperate whimper.
Nothing. Her rage blinds her. Without another second, she prances at me. Fortunately, my reflexes were fast enough to catch her. Our mouths clashed together in a mess of blood and violence. This was nothing like the practice fighting Jacob and I had done before. No, this was far more vicious. The threat radiated off of her body, forcing me into an alerted state.
Our clashing was so powerful that we pushed each other in opposite directions. Before I'm able to retaliate, she already manages to pounce at me again. I'm just able to stand my ground and claw at her face with my sharp, blood drenched claws. Leah falls to the ground with a loud thud and I launch myself on top of her. For the first time during this whole battle I have the upper ground, though I doubt I'm nearly strong enough to keep it. I have tens of open wounds, all leaving stains of blood along my white fur.
Instead of using my strength against her, I place my claws on her throat, hoping she'll stay down and give up the fight.
She doesn't quit just yet however. She's biting aimlessly and clawing at whatever she could. She got some of the skin on my sides, slicing it open painfully. In response, I forced my nails to dig deeper into her throat. A high pitched squeal left her snout and she immediately stopped all attempt to fight back. Though she wasn't shifting.
I impatiently bark at her, hoping she shifts soon because I'm beginning to see a frightening set of black and white spots in my vision. The world seems to spin like an endless merry-go-round. I can't taste nothing but blood and feel nothing but pain, but I continue to force my claws deeper against her throat despite the aching.
She continues to whine but I can see there's still fight in her eyes. She's weighing out the options of ending the fight. So, once again, I bark at her, this time more persistent. She flinches in response and I'm able to feel her form shrinking beneath my weight.
Once I'm sure she's shifting, I climb off of her and trot over to Emily who sobs in the shallow water as a few of the pack members carry Sam out on a wooden stretcher. Jacob is next to her, his arms wrapped around her shoulders comfortingly.
Despite feeling the darkness creep up behind my consciousness, I limp up to the two and shift back as fast as physically possible. Unfortunately everything seems to get far worse once I'm back in human form. The pain is so bad that my legs give out beneath me and my face quickly connects with the sand.
I can faintly hear Jacob call my name, followed by the ever approaching footprints. "Sam?" I manage to wheeze out. But before I could make out any response, the world goes dark and my body goes limp.

I suck in a deep refreshing breath of air. The scent that comes along with it is familiarity. Déjà vu hits me aggressively. Had I woken up in this place before? I force my eyes to open and I am met with the interior of Jacob's unembellished room. I have been here before, in a similar situation. Though last time it was because I was attacked by a vampire. This time it was because I was attacked by a werewolf... no, two werewolves.
