I woke up that morning to an empty bed and a horrible hammering in my head. The space next to me where Jacob rested now felt cold and empty. I wondered how long it had been since he left. I opened my phone to see if he texted but he hadn't. The memories of last night were hazy. But not enough to leave anything significant out. Jacob and I were going to kiss and the thought sent butterflies in my stomach. It seemed as though he wanted to, but felt like he shouldn't have. I felt the same way, but it couldn't have been for the same reason. I know I shouldn't engage with him for fear of being hurt anymore than I am. But I think he doesn't want to engage because he loves Bella. So what does he feel for me? And what exactly do I feel for him?
The thoughts made my head hurt much more. I grunted and rolled out of bed. I stumbled to the bathroom and looked in the mirror to see a tired and gross looking version of myself. There were huge dark circles under my eyes and drool stains on my chin. I made a displeased face before getting ready to shower.
The memories of me performing the previous night played in my head. My back formed a cold sweat from embarrassment. Just then my phone dinged and I picked it up to see a message from Jessica.
'Dawn you were incredible last night! I mean, pretty good for being absolutely wasted. Everyone can't stop talking about it. Why didnt you tell us you could sing?'
"Oh shit," I said out loud and threw my phone on the bed. Why did I do this to myself.
I decided to take an extra long and agonizing shower to thoroughly think back on the previous night. On the bright side, the vampires and werewolves will be working together. On the other side, I embarrassed the hell out of myself. Not to mention I almost kissed Jacob Black and fell asleep in his arms. That last one was difficult for me to decide whether it was on the good or bad side. Either way, this was a disaster.
Once I got out of the shower I put on a pair of black ripped skinny jeans, a dark red tank top, a tight fitted leather jacket and black boots. This was amongst one of my many "vampire looking" outfits. I tied my white wavy hair into a high ponytail. I didn't put on any makeup, it was too much work and my headache was too intense to even attempt it. The beautiful green necklace Edward gave me rested on the table. If it hadnt been so pretty I wouldve thrown it away.
I took one last long look in the mirror before stepping out of my room and walking down the stairs. Rosalie was the only person in sight.
"Hey Rose," I said and gave her a weak smile. I walked over to the kitchen and sat down in front of her. She was reading some sort of magazine.
"How's your hangover?" she asked without looking up. I would ask how she knew but practically the whole town knew at this point.
"Pretty bad," I said and rubbed my temples. She looked up at me with an evil smile. "Don't look at me like that," I said and she chuckled. She handed me a pill and a glass of water.
"Everyone is hunting," Rosalie spoke casually, answering my next question. I took the pill and swallowed it with the aid of the water.
"And what about you?" I asked.
"I went hunting yesterday before graduation," Rosalie mumbled, then suddenly closed the magazine. She looked up at me and her eyes glistened with mischief. "What?"
"Alice told me you and Jacob were together last night. What happened exactly?" she asked and smirked slightly.
I was silent for a moment before shrugging. "Nothing."
"Bullshit. Tell me," she pressed.
"Well... I barfed my guts out and we almost kissed. But we didn't because Alice interrupted. He pulled away and that was that," she said, deciding to skip out on the fact that she had fallen asleep with him.
