Chapter 17: The Battle of Humanity

A few hours have passed since Lillie left, but it feels like it was only a few seconds. Not a lot has been happening, but that could also mean that I am missing a lot. I was still laying down in Jacob's house. I decided to look around, I saw that Ashley was still here. I decided to talk to Ashley again. "Ashley, I have a question."

"Oh, you decided to wake back up." Ashley thought I was asleep.

"I was resting."

"Oh... Anyways, what do you want to ask?"

"I have just thought of something just after I woke up just now. If I was not dead but looked as if I was killed, what would I be?"

"Hmm... I have no idea. I know there is a term for such—" Ashley was interrupted by someone who entered the house.

"It is called comatose." It was Stephen.

Ashley was confused. "Stephen? I thought you were—"

Stephen interrupted Ashley again. "Yeah, yeah. Anyways, I came here to see if Jordan was okay. Seeing he is awake means he is alright. Although, I find it strange that Jordan was able to survive such a hit."

I entered the conversation. "Might I ask where Helena is?"

"Wait... Why did you ask where Helena is?"

Ashley explained why I ask my question. "Because I sent Lillie to watch Helena in case she did manage to wake up. Lillie came by a few hours ago to let us know, but we have not heard from Lillie since she left to go back to Helena."

Stephen asked about a body. "Is that who was knocked out close by?"

Ashley was a bit troubled. "What do you mean knocked out?"

Stephen added on. "The body is not there anymore. Helena did not take the body. I know that because I managed to catch sight of both the body and Helena, but Helena never got the body. I guess that was Lillie."

"That body is Lillie." Ashley was getting scared. "Do you know where she is?"

"No, I do not know." Stephen looked at me for a few moments. "Why don't you look for Lillie while I look over Jordan?"

"I will go do that." Ashley ran out the door to look for Lillie.

I decided to talk to Stephen. "Why did you decide to come by?"

Stephen did a little rant. "I wanted to see if you were actually awake. Too many things have been happening, and the last thing I want to happen is for one of our lives to be claimed by Helena or her... crew. Ashley may not want you to fight in this condition, and neither do I want you to. However, you may have no choice but to fight in your current condition because... WHEN SHE COMES AFTER YOU... you better be prepared. Are you ready to risk your life hopefully for the last time? I hope you are."

I quickly made up my mind. "I'll do it."

Ashley interrupted. "Jordan, are you sure you want to take the risk?"

I made my final decision. "Anyways... Stephen... I guess you are right. I have no choice but to fight. I may die either way, so I would rather die a hero than a coward."

I tried to get up, and Stephen helped me up. "Smart choice."

"Now, we need to find Helena." I had spoken my fate. Stephen was very proud of me, while Ashley feared my death.

Helena was in hiding... obviously. I do not know why she could be hiding from what she called a useless species who betrayed her kind. "Okay... okay... everything will be fine." Helena had spoken while being insane in the mind. "I hope 4T-524 is okay."
