GUYS. WE MADE IT TO 10K READS. I'M SO HAPPY. I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH. ENJOY THIS CHAPTER. :)
*Kellin's POV*
It had been a couple more days already. She still hadn't woken up. I decided to sing to her every day... hoping that maybe if she knew that I hadn't given up on her, she would open those pretty eyes, and would come back to me. I desperately needed her to come back to me.
I had already called the guys, letting them know that I wouldn't be back on tour for a while. We could just drop out of Warped... It wouldn't be the end of the world, and it wouldn't be the first time a band did this. Unlike those bands though, we had a legitimate reason. My baby, my world, was in the hospital and unresponsive. If anyone thought that I would leave her side to sing, they were very sadly mistaken.
I had already had certain managers yelling at me, but I didn't care. I could fire them, and it wouldn't make a difference. I wouldn't bat my eyes at it. I was staying here, no matter what anyone said. Cassie was going to wake up, and I would be here to see those eyes open. Until then, I was just imagining her smiling at me while we were on that beach. I miss that day. I miss her.
I miss her so damn much.
The doctor walked in just then to check her vitals once again.
"How are you holding up, Kellin?" He asked, smiling down at me.
"I'll be better once she wakes up." I sighed, looking at our intertwined hands.
Holding her hand was all I did these days. Because it was all I could do.
"Well, hopefully it'll be soon. Her vitals look good." He said, checking the monitor.
"That's what you said last time before we almost lost her again." I muttered, remembering how painful that experience was.
"I know... But, that was a complete surprise to all of us. Her vitals shouldn't have spiked like they did. I'm still wondering what happened." He said, putting down his clipboard on the table.
"Really?" I asked, looking at him with worried eyes.
"Yeah, but sometimes coma patients are like that... Unpredictable. But, her vital signs now are better than they were, so she's improving. If she keeps this up, she might be awake sooner than you know." The doctor sweetly smiled at me.
"Thank you." I smiled, nodding at him, and then looking back at Cassie.
"Well, I'll let you guys go. Other patients are waiting for me, but don't tell anyone else that you guys are my favorite." The doctor laughed before walking out.
"You got it, man. Your secret is safe with me." I laughed along with him, and watched him walk out the door.
I couldn't think of anything other than Cassie. No matter how much I laughed with the doctors and with Rebecca about the "good old days," I didn't want to stay stuck in the past. I wanted to think about the future. My future with Cassie. And, that required her to wake up. I just needed to see those green eyes again look at me.
Also, thinking about the past made me angry... Angry at everything. The doctors pulled me aside when she had first been brought in and unfortunately had to question me about the bruising, to see if I knew anything. The police was also involved, and even though they knew that it was all Kyle due to Cassie's phone call to them the day he was killed, they had to cover all the bases. Just hearing how bad the injuries were, how badly Kyle had continually beat her... I was so angry at myself. I should never have left her alone.
And, I wanted to kill Kyle myself. Unfortunately, he was already dead. And, since this was being kept all under wraps, no one knew anything about this. So, I had to deal with the fans asking me so many questions, and everyone out to get me because they just thought that I was being an overdramatic star or something. No one had any idea what was going on in my life. Well, no one outside of band members and family.
