"New Beginnings, Old Endings"
*Cassie's POV*
I walked side by side with Kyle, occasionally glancing up at him. He was cute, despite his black eye that was forming quite quickly.
And unfortunately, it reminded me of him. Kellin.
Damn him. Could I not have a single day... maybe even a single hour... where he didn't interrupt my every thought?
"What's on your mind?" Kyle asked, disrupting everything running through my brain.
"Nothing really..." I shrugged.
We continued walking in an awkward silence until we reached a restaurant that was near the concert area.
"Do you like Italian?" He asked, smirking.
"Of course." I smiled back.
His hand found its way into mine as he led me into the restaurant. I didn't mind the fact that he held my hand, but the tightness of his grasp made the voice in my head (it was undeniably reminiscent to Kellin's voice) cry out a heed of warning... Though, once his eyes met mine, all sirens were silenced.
A hostess only silenced them further, pushing back every reason to go back to Kellin.
"Lunch for two?" She asked politely.
"Yes, please." He smiled.
She glanced down at our intertwined hands and gave a bright smile.
"You guys look really cute together, by the way."
Before I even had a chance to reiterate, she started to walk away, leading us to our table.
I loosely let my hand fall from his, not wanting him to believe anything of what the hostess had said. His face showed his disappointment, but I wasn't ready yet. Not until he proved Kellin wrong.
He grabbed my chair before I was able to grab it, and pulled it out for me. I smiled at his nice gesture and took my seat. He took my napkin and placed it over my lap, and then scooted me in. He did the same for himself, and when he was finished I was just smiling at him.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" He laughed.
"No one has ever done that for me before." I just smiled, still dumbfounded at his manners.
"I'm trying to be a gentleman." He just continued to smile and laugh.
"Well, thank you kind sir." I said in a fake British accent, but with a genuine smile.
He just shook his head, laughing, and picked up his menu. As he was reading it, I continued to stare at him... taking every part of his appearance into consideration. His shaggy hair fell into his beautiful eyes as he scanned the menu. He was beautiful, and I didn't understand what he saw in me.
"He's not as beautiful as Kellin." The voice in my head reminded me.
I wanted to shove that stupid little voice's comment up its ass...
"You like what you see?" He grinned as he looked at me.
I hadn't realized I was still looking at him.
"Don't be so full of yourself." I shot at him.
He cocked an eyebrow, but just shrugged it off.
"So, does anything look good to you on the menu?" He asked.
Hell yes. Everything looked good. Tortellini, Manicotti, Ravioli, Chicken Parmesan, Chicken Alfredo... They had everything. I just didn't want to pig out in front of him.
