Jason led the way up the long, sloping pathway that led up to the front door of the castle. Looking back, he saw the island of Menagerie spread out below, one large town with a maze of rope bridges spanning across one section. He smiled as he knocked on the large oak door. This was home.
A fox Faunus in his late thirties, dressed in the red and gold armor of the royal family personal guard, answered the door. The man's fox ears were down against his head as he bowed to Jason– a sign of respect.
"Welcome back sir."
Jason smiled.
"It's good to be home Sirus."
Jason turned to the small group behind him.
"Blake, Yang, this is Sirus Kane, head of the royal family personal guard."
Sirus smiled at the group before turning to Jason and Talia.
"Your mother is one the veranda upstairs. She's expecting you."
As the group made their way upstairs, Blake walked beside Sirus.
"So, how long have you been working for the royal family?"
Sirus looked at her as they climbed a stone staircase.
"Since I was eighteen. My family has worked for the royal family for many generations. They've always been kind to us and the pay is very good. My sister Sadie and I are heads of security for the royal family."
He smiled at her.
"And you must be Blake Belladonna."
Blake's eyes widened in surprise.
"How did you know?"
Sirus smiled.
"When you've been on Menagerie for as long as I have, you get to know the people of the island. I was one of the people who helped rebuild the Belladonna family house after the fire."
He opened a door on the landing.
"And there are only a few prominent cat Faunus families in existence, so it wasn't hard to guess."
They passed through a large room lined with tapestries before Sirus opened a door to a large balcony that overlooked the island.
On the balcony, gazing out at the Turquoise and deep blue water, was a woman.
Sirus bowed to Jason and Talia before making his way back inside the castle as the woman turned.
Blake noticed at once her resemblance to Jason and Talia. The woman had the same jet black hair and bright, catlike eyes. This must be their mother.
The woman smiled as she walked towards them, sweeping her long, black hair, flecked with streaks of gray over her shoulder.
"Hi mom."
Jason said, smiling at her.
The woman smiled, pulling Jason and Talia into a tight embrace.
"It's good to have you two home again."
Then she noticed the other two standing by the door.
"You must be Blake and Yang. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Blake went into a low, sweeping bow. Yang, feeling somewhat nervous, did the same.
The woman smiled as she shook Blake's hand, then Yang's.
"My name is Rena, Rena Creek. Pleasure to meet you."
Tens lead the way into a small room filled with couches and an ornate coffee table, upon which a tea pot of tea and several cups were already set.
Rena looked across the table as they sat down.
"Your father will be here shortly."
She smiled at Blake.
"He's actually talking with Ghira Belladonna at the moment. Working on military defense work."
Blake grinned, squeezing Jason's hand gently.
After several minutes passed, the door to the room opened and Jason's father entered.
