Jason led Blake out of the room and back to the stone spiral staircases.
Blake looked at him as they began to climb the stairs up to the higher levels of the castle.
"Your parents seem like nice people."
He nodded.
"They've almost always supported my decision."
Blake noticed the use of the word 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵.
"The White Fang?"
She asked.
He nodded.
"It's not that they didn't like the groups original goal, they support faunus equally as much as you or I, but they just didn't want to see me get hurt. As you know, even before the White Fang became violent, members of the group became targeted by people who didn't support our cause."
He sighed.
"Anyway, we're here."
Jason pushed open a door on the landing and they stepped inside.
The room was cozy without being cramped. There was a large bed against one wall, directly across from a fireplace. Set into the far wall were doors. One was partially open and, as Blake could see, led out onto a balcony. The final wall, closest to the door was lined with bookcases except for a large chest of draws.
Jason and Blake's bags were already at the foot of the bed.
He turned to her with a faint smile playing around his face.
"You don't mind sharing with me do you?"
Blake grinned.
"I don't see that being a problem.
The two unpacked.
The other door, Jason explained, led to a bathroom.
As Blake looked around the room, something about the fireplace caught her eye. She took a few steps closer to examine it.
Carved into the stone above the mantelpiece were four distinct shapes.
Two swords pointing down and inwards at an angle on either side of a short spear. Across the bottom was a long groove, slightly wider than the spear.
She was about to turn away when something about one of the shapes caught her eye.
"Jason."
She said, not wanting to look away from the indentations,
"I think you need to see this."
He walked over to stand next to her.
"What is it bla- oh."
He follows her gaze to the hilts of the two swords. One was perfectly flat while the other had and indentation that resembled the head of the A Phoenix.
In an instant, Jason summoned both Phoenix Fire and Adam's sword to his hands and slowly pressed them into the notches above the fireplace. The fire crackled and changed colors, first gold, then red.
The two looked at each other as Jason summoned Blackest Night and pressed it into the spear slot, pointing straight downwards.
The fire glowed black.
"What about the sheath?"
Blake said, running her hand along the final shape.
Jason racked just brain trying to think.
"I had it on the island. It was in my back when we left but..."
He shook his head.
"I don't think it made it through."
He pulled out his scroll and called Talia.
She arrived in the room two minutes later.
She glanced at the weapons on the wall, the at her brother.
"Talia."
Jason's heart was racing.
"Have you ever seen a sheath for a spear? One that looked like this?"
Talia took a look at the engraving and shook her head.
"Not that I can remember."
Jason swore under his breath. Then he felt Blake's hand on his shoulder.
"You won't be able to think straight when you're like this."
She said.
Jason sighed.
"You're right."
Talia looked at the wall above the fireplace.
"What do you think it does though?"
Jason ran his hands over the stone.
"I don't know. Whatever it is though, Salem clearly doesn't want it to happen. She made the sheath disappear when Blake and I left the island. I just want to know where it is right now."
Talia looked at her brother.
"Tell you what. It's almost time for dinner. Let's just relax and enjoy our first night at home. Then, in the morning when we're more rested, we can work on tracking down that sheath."
Jason saw the logic in what she said.
"Alright Sis. See you at dinner."
Talia gave her brother a quick hug before she left the room.
Jason sat down on the bed, his eyes closed as he felt his excited heart rate return to normal. He felt the mattress descend slightly as Blake sat down next to him.
"You'll figure it out."
She said,
"We've done difficult stuff before."
Her voice helped to calm him.
"Thanks Blake."
Jason said, giving her a faint smile.
She rested her head on his shoulder, purring softly.
