Adrien Creek was a tall man, powerfully built, with short length black hair and a neatly trimmed beard that was graying around the edges. He seemed to emanate an aura of intimidation as he strode towards them. But then he broke into a warm smile as he caught sight of Jason and Talia, pulling them into a hug.
When Jason stepped back, he turned to the group.
"Blake, Yang, this is my father, Adrien Creek– king of remnant."
The two bowed again, Yang finding it less awkward this time.
Jason and Talia returned to their seats on the couch as Adrien took a seat next to his wife across the table.
"How was your meeting with Ghira?"
Rena asked as Adrien took a sip of his tea.
"Good. We've finalized plans to help form some defenses for the private military docks on the island. After one of Adam's old white fang soldiers tried to hijack that ship last week, we can't be too careful."
Then looked at Blake and Yang.
"It's a pleasure to have you here, both of you."
His attention shifted to Yang.
"I don't believe I know your name."
To everyone's surprise, it was Talia who spoke.
"Father, this is Yang Xaio-Long... my mate."
Adrien smiled warmly at Yang.
"It's a pleasure to meet you."
Yang smiled back.
"Likewise."
The door at the end of the room opened again and a tall woman, dressed in the red and gold of the royal family personal guard, entered.
The woman's fox ears twitched slightly as she crossed the room."
"Message for you."
She said to Rena, handing her a scroll. The woman smiled at the group as Rena read the message, her eyes darting back and forth across the screen.
Then Rena stood up. She looked at her husband.
"The planning team is here."
Then, turning to the group she said,
"I'll see you all for dinner."
Before following the other woman out of the room.
Adrien smiled as he sat back in his chair.
"That was Sadie Kane, one of heads of security. I trust you've already met her brother, Sirus."
Yang nodded.
"So, how many people actually work here?"
"A fair number."
Adrien said, refilling his teacup.
"There are tweenty personal guards. All people we know we can trust. But, unlike the Schnee Dust Company, we don't use slave labor. Everyone here is paid quite highly."
Yang smiled.
"That's good to hear."
Talia leaned forward and looked across the table at her father.
"Mom said the planning team was here. What was that about?"
Adrien gave a slight chuckle.
"We've decided to host a dance for the high ranking officers, just one way of showing our thanks and lightening the mood in these trying and difficult times."
He gave a somewhat stern glance in the direction of Jason and Talia.
"You two will be there of course. It's important for the whole royal family to be in attendance."
"Yes father."
Jason said.
Blake could tell from the tone in his voice that the idea didn't exactly thrill him.
Setting his teacup down, Jason stood up and held out his hand to Blake.
"Come on, ill show you where you'll be staying."
