The light from the shattered moon shone down upon the island of Menagerie. The faint scar that ran from just under Jason's left eye in a sweeping motion down to his jaw stood out against the tan of his skin. Waves lapped at the dock, the only sound to be heard apart from the low murmur of voices from the village behind him.

"Blake." Jason said, his voice as calm as the night itself.
"Mmm?" Blake said, lifting her head ever so slightly from where it had been resting on his shoulder.
"You doing okay?"
Blake only nodded. There was a moment's pause before she spoke.
"You have to leave again in the morning don't you?"
It wasn't really a question, and Jason's deep sigh confirmed what Blake Already knew to be true.

"I'm sorry Blake. As far as I can tell Salem is still after me. It was a risk even coming here. But seeing you, as well as getting a chance to talk to your father, was worth it."

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The dock creaked gently beneath them. Somewhere behind them in the village, a door closed, another store locking up for the night. When Blake did eventually speak again, it was in a low, calm tone that matched the peacefulness of the night around them.

"How long this time."

Jason let out another sigh. "Not too long. A week and a half, two weeks at most."
Blake Allowed a small smile to cross her face. "Well at least that good news."
Jason nodded slightly. "I think I may of found a way to make it so Salem won't be able to find me as easily, but I need to talk to someone in Vacuo first. If this all goes according to plan, when I next see you I'll be back for good."

Blake's cat ears flicked slightly in happiness, gently brushing Jason's neck as they did so.

Jason shifted slightly, removing his arm from its position on Blake's shoulders as he removed his necklace that had once held the power of the Guardian.

They both looked at it, the sapphire, ringed by gold, reflecting the light of the moon. Jason pressed the necklace gently into Blake's palm, allowing it to rest in her hand.

"I want you to have this Blake..."
Blake looked up at him.
"Don't you need this to control the Guardian's power?"
Jason shook his head slightly.
"The power transferred into me that night I fought Adam, all the necklace ever really did was help me control it. I've been practicing enough that I'm pretty sure if I ever have to call on the power of the Guardian again, I'm pretty sure I would be able to control it by myself."

Blake nodded, bending forward slightly, allowing Jason to fasten the gold chain of the necklace around her neck. The sapphire came to rest slightly below her collarbone, rising and falling in time with her calm and steady breathing.

"I want you to have it as something to remember me by. In times when I can't be by your side, all you have to do is look to the shadows. I will always be with you in spirit Blake... I promise.

"Thank you." Blake, murmured, several small, silent tears running down her cheeks. Jason wipes them away.

"Jason?" Blake said quietly. "Yeah?" Jason said. The low murmur of voices from the village had stopped now, everyone having turned in for the night. L
"Can you stay with me until you have to go."
Jason smiled softly. "Of course I can."

She hugged him gently. He hugged back.
"Have you told Yang about... us?"
Blake shook her head.
"We've been so busy fighting and preparing for war that there hasn't really been much time. I'll have to let her down easy. I hope she won't take it to hard."

Jason only nodded.

The two of them sat there, gazing out across the deep blue water, talking and laughing until the sun rose. When it finally did, Jason stood up, offering Blake his hand as he gently helped her up. They hugged one last time, said their goodbyes, before Jason boarded a ferry boat, bound for Vacuo.

Blake watched the boat leave the docks as disappear over the horizon. She smiled to herself, knowing they'd see each other again soon.
