Blake appeared on the plateau, just outside the cave. She shivered slightly as the familiar tingle went up her spine. In the three months since they had first been brought to the island, she had pretty much mastered moving around using the spear. It had been her turn on patrol that evening, making sure the area around the cave was safe while Jason prepared dinner. She raised Jason's cloak as a harsh gust of wind blew along the cliff face, snow still falling heavily.
Blake placed both hands on the boulder that they were still using as a door and pushed. Three months of physical work just to survive on the island had made both her and Jason much stronger, to the point where either one of them could shift the boulder by themselves.
The boulder shifted and Blake entered the cave.
It was amazing how much the place had changed since they first arrived. It really did feel like home now.
Using a small amount of dust, Jason had managed to blast some small holes in the cave wall to act as windows that lead to the outside. This had come in handy when, after a month, she weather had turned harsh and snowy. The holes allowed air to get into the cave so they were able to light fires inside, using the small fire pit in the center of the room.
Jason smiled at Blake as she closed the door behind her.
He sat beside a small, roaring fire, in the center of the cave. Blake took off the damp cloak and put it by the fire to dry as she sat down next to him.
"Anything new?"
She shook her head.
"A couple of beowolves and a small pack of ursa. I think they might be looking for that alpha we killed last night. Nothing close to the cave though."
Jason smiled as he brushed some snow off of Blake's cat ears and hair.
While Jason had managed to keep his hair relatively the same length by cutting it using Blackest Night, Blake head let hers grow long again. Her once short-cut hair now reached down past her shoulders in a flowing, black wave. Although right now it was in a braid, swept over her shoulder. This kept it from blowing about as much in the harsh winds of winter.
Jason smiled at her.
"Blake I... I think I've found it."
Blake's cat ears perked up as she looked at him, her eyes wide.
"You've found a way back?"
It had been almost a month since their last attempt to break free of Salem's world.
Jason nodded.
"I feel so stupid for not thinking of this before."
He said, gazing first at Blake, then at the fire, then back at Blake.
"These grimm are all connected to Salem aren't they? She made them, so they all share her aura, everything in this place does."
Blake nodded, listening intently.
"We both know that Darkest Night,"
He gestured to the spear that Blake still held in her hand,
"Absorbs the aura of anything it kills."
He paused for a moment before continuing.
"I think, if I use the spear to release a powerful enough burst of that aura, I can shatter this reality completely, sending us home."
Blake threw her arms around his neck and kissed him, tears of joy spilling down her cheeks.
When she pulled back, the two smiled at each other.
"I think we should try in the morning."
Blake nodded.
"Hopefully the weather will have cleared up by then."
The two ate dinner together, a having fish for the first time in several weeks.
Blake smiled to herself as she remembered her birthday dinner Jason had made almost three months earlier.
They went to bed soon after, wanting the morning to arrive as soon as possible.

The next morning dawned bright and clear. Although there was not a cloud in the sky, it was still bitterly cold. They as the two exited the cave for what they hoped would be the last time, they took one last look at the place that had been their home, their shelter, for the last three months of their lives.
Using the spear, they made their way to the ground, their boots miking a crunching sound in the thick snow.
A small, dark purple, flower with a yellow center poked out of the now. It was like none that either of them had ever seen in the real world but seemed to withstand everything here on the island.
Jason reached down and pulled it, roots and all, from the ground. He handed it to Blake who, smiling, put in into one of the pouches on her belt.
Together, Jason and Blake held Blackest Night in front of them.
One word echoed through Jason's mind as he looked at Blake.
"Home."
The end of the spear glowed a deep, blood red and the world around the, began to shake.
Then there was a bright flash and a sound like a cannon blast and the world around them dissolved
