9. Tension

Disclaimer: some sexual behavior in this chapter so if you don't like that I don't recommend reading past the kiss this chapter... but if you do buckle up folks.

Sirius and Izzy hadn't talked for a week. Besides awkward glances when they were with their other friends and accidentally brushing hands once in potions, they had no contact whatsoever. Izzy did her best to avoid the usual paths that Sirius took in the halls while Sirius never came out his dormitory when he heard laughing in the common room for fear that Izzy might be there. Sirius had busied himself with his usual conquests, drinking, and smoking which in a way further reminded him of Izzy as she had cared enough to talk him to stop.

It was Saturday and Izzy left the Ravenclaw dormitories to go get food. Only half awake and not thinking clearly out of habit she made her way to the table all of her Gryffindor friends sat at. She sat down grabbing toast and pulled out a book ignoring everyone at the table. Sirius's pulse quickened unsure of what to do as it would be weird if he left or stayed.

"Hey Izzy I need help with my transfiguration homework" Lily said from beside her.

"Sure I'll take a look" Izzy said dropping her toast on her plate me and scooting closer to Lily looking at the parchment in front of her "You need to change answers 2, 5, and 10"

"Sometimes I forget you're a Ravenclaw Izzy" laughed James.

Izzy looked across the table towards James and immediately her face went white realizing Sirius was next to him "Well there's a fair chance you guys wouldn't pass your classes without me" Izzy choked out, the usual wit in her voice gone.

"We'd be lost without you" Lily said not noticing the change in Izzy as her quill moved across her page.

"She's not that great" Remus rolled his eyes

"Ooo someone's jealous" James said putting an arm around him "Don't worry Moony we'll always love you as much as your genius sister". Sirius poked the eggs on his plate trying to find a good excuse to leave the table "Well Sirius would for sure be screwed without Izzy" James commented "He would be lost without Izzy helping him in potions"

"We actually decided to discontinue our lessons" Sirius said avoiding Izzy's eyes

"Really why?" Lily asked her full attention now focused on Izzy.

"He's just a stubborn student who's unmotivated to learn" Izzy responded confidence returning to her voice

"No she's just a horrible teacher who can't teach to save her life" Sirius grumbled

"You do realize you just basically repeated yourself twice right?" Izzy said her eyes narrowing

"I didn't bloody ask you Izzy" Sirius said slamming his hands on the table and standing up

"Well you should've because you're wrong about a lot of things" Izzy said standing up as well

"Care to name a few" Sirius growled leaning towards Izzy

"With pleasure" Izzy responded leaning in as well so that their faces were inches apart

"Hey guys" James cleared his throat "maybe we could all just relax and take a few deep breaths"

"Izzy can take the deep breaths or whatever I'm going to my dorm" Sirius grunted walking away from the table

"Well I'm not taking any deep breaths either" Izzy said storming away as well

Lily and James met eyes and James knew exactly what she was thinking "Lily don't" he sighed

"Oh don't tell me you're not dying to dig into that too" she chuckled
