29. Real First Date

The rest of the week had flown by for Izzy. She had read most of the texts that Dumbledore had recommended excluding several that were in the restricted section, making a mental note to talk to him about that at their next lesson. Before Izzy knew it the day of her date was upon her. Lily had somehow managed to get into the Ravenclaw dormitories and woke her up at 7 in the morning on a Saturday much to Izzy's dismay. Though it didn't compare to Marlene's reaction which involved a lot of swearing and the throwing of pillows to the extent that Izzy and Lily both had to leave the room so that they weren't hexed.

"I don't know why this is such a big deal" Izzy huffed standing in front of the mirror in Alice and Lily's dorm as Lily was looking through her closet and Alice was eagerly watching from the base of her bed.

"It's a big deal because it's your first real date" Alice gushed

"Technically not my first date" Izzy pointed out thinking of her previous Ravenclaw boyfriend as Lily walked from the closet to Izzy holding an armful of clothes.

"Having a guy sit next to you in the great hall and then shag you multiple times is not a date Izzy" Lily rolled her eyes as she began to hold the clothes up to Izzy.

"He did more than just sit next to me, we talked quite a bit" Izzy offered trying to remember doing something of substance with him.

"Oh just admit it, you basically haven't properly dated someone" Alice huffed

Izzy flashed a glare back at her and Lily handed her a short sleeve dress. "It's January, do you want me to turn into a bloody popsicle?" Izzy handed the dress Mack to Lily.

"It'll make him offer you his coat" Lily wiggled her eyebrows

"Find me something warm please" Izzy glowered in return.

After some arguing with Lily, Izzy was now wearing a long sleeve collared shirt with bellbottom jeans that Lily had basically shoving Izzy into. Alice had done her hair so that it fell around her shoulders in small neat curls and Izzy had indulged Lily and let her put on a small amount of eyeliner so that her eyes were more defined. They had all eaten breakfast together before they sent Izzy off to find her date.

As Izzy walked to meet him she couldn't help but feel nervous. There was some truth behind what Alice and Lily had said, she hadn't really gone on a proper date before. Now she was worrying about her breath and if she'd put on deodorant. She'd never really thought about any of these things before and it fed into her nervousness. When she stepped outside she was eternally grateful she had talked Lily out of the previous outfit as she shivered slightly. She finally found him standing in the courtyard by the fountain in a winter coat and jeans. He looked nice out of uniform Izzy thought to herself as she approached him. "Hey" she said trying to speak as clearly as possible.

He turned to her and his cheeks went pink "Hey Izzy" He grinned goofily "you look brilliant"

"Thank you" Izzy blushed looking down at her feet "You don't look that bad yourself"

She felt him lean down and briskly kissed her on the cheek and she nodded towards Hogsmede "Do you want to get a move on or just stand here all day" she laughed

"Wow you must be really excited to want our date to start already" Thomas chuckled as they started to walk

"Hey don't get full of yourself" Izzy warned nudging him in the side playfully

They both laughed and walked the rest of the way to Hogsmede making small conversation. Izzy discovered that Thomas had a younger brother who started Hogwarts this year and he was a muggleborn so their parents were both in awe over the fact that there's two wizards in the family. She had told him about how she was a half-blood so she understood many things about the muggle world and he gave her a pop quiz about muggle items which she passed with flying colors leaving him in shock. "Some wizards have an existence outside of magic" Izzy had teased. By the time they got to the Three Broomsticks they were smiling and cheerful despite the cold biting air outside, though they were more than happy to sit down and gather their warmth inside the well heated tavern.
