17. The Ball, Pt.2

Izzy watched a smile playing on her face as Lily and Remus danced together. After Remus was feeling good again they had gone back into the ball and Lily had asked him for one dance. Unfortunately for Remus, Lily had pulled him into dance after dance and he was basically pleading Izzy with his eyes to save him. Izzy just grinned from their table in return trying not to take to much pleasure in her brother's suffering. Sirius sat down next to her, offering her a cup of punch.

"Where's your date?" He asked

"I think he went off to bed when I was with Remus" Izzy said leaning back in her chair

"Oh" Sirius paused a moment "So are you two..."

"Sirius I have told you on multiple occasions that Peter and I are just friends" she rolled her eyes. They sat in a moment of silence before a slow song cam on and Sirius stood up and offered her his hand. "What are you doing" Asked Izzy

"Asking you to dance" Sirius grinned

"Alright just this once" Izzy smiled back

She took his hand and he led her out onto the dance floor. His hand fell to the small of her back and his other hand tenderly laced with hers. She noticed that his grip was sure and steady unlike Peter who was overly shaky. Her own hand was place on his shoulder and she relaxed as they began to move.

"I didn't know you could dance this well" Izzy said as the glided across the room

"My parents made me and Regulus take them when we were little. I have many skills and I'm sure you know what I'm talking about when I say I'm very talented at some" he winked

"Sirius" Izzy hissed gripping his shoulder tightly

"What" Sirius smirked innocently

"You are absolutely infuriating" she scowled

"As are you" he chuckled

They stared into each other's eyes as they moved. Something in his eyes glinted as his grip on her back tightened and his eyes fell to her lips.  Izzy angled her face so that they were inches away from each other. She could feel his breath on her nose and breathed in the smell of smoke and sugar she craved. Her body begged to feel his against hers. Just as they were almost touching the song ended and they awkwardly stood apart. "Do you want to go for a walk?" Sirius asked

"I suppose so" Izzy shrugged

Sirius took her hand and they left the ball. They wandered the hallways, neither one said a word. Eventually they reached they ended up outside on the bridge to the forbidden forest. Snow had fallen the previous night and it glistened in the moonlight. Izzy leaned over the cold stone shivering because of the cold air. "Here" Sirius said pulling off his formal jacket and putting it over Izzy, leaving him in a long sleeve button up shirt.

"Thanks" Izzy whispered quietly

"It's beautiful isn't it" Sirius said looking at the sky

"The stars?" Asked Izzy

"The night" Sirius murmured

Izzy moved to stand next to him, their hands almost touching. "Isn't that you?" Izzy pointed at a particularly bright star

"What" Sirius laughed

"That's the star 'Sirius'" she smiled looking up at him

"Yah" Sirius sighed "My family has a thing for naming their offspring after stars and stuff"

"You hardly ever talk about your family" Izzy said softly turning to face him "What are they like?"

"I suppose you should already know that they are death eaters as you have ears" he pointed out harshly
