3. Potions

Izzy had managed to get past her hangover and woke up on the first day of classes with the ability to appear like she gave a shit. She got dressed in her robes and left the Ravenclaw dorms going to the great hall to grab a bite to eat before class. When she got there she saw Lily and sat down next to her.

"Hey Lily" Izzy said grabbing a green apple from the table.

"Hey Izzy" Lily responded looking up from the newspaper she was reading "what does your schedule look like this year?"

"The first class I have is Potions, then Astronomy, Charms, Muggle studies, Ancient Runes, Transfiguration, Herbology, and Care of Magical Creatures"

"Izzy you know we only had to take 6 classes this year" Sirius said sitting down across from the girls.

"Sirius it's Izzy of course she's going to take more classes then necessary" Lily said while buttering her toast.

"What does that mean!?" Izzy exclaimed

"It means your a very studious person" Lily responding

"No it means you don't know how to have a good time" James said sliding from down the table to sit next to Sirius.

"Hey I know how to have a good time!" Izzy said defensively

"You certainly did 2 nights ago" laughed Sirius. Izzy rolled her eyes and finished her apple pulling out a book to buy herself some time before her next class. When Izzy read it was like the entire world faded away around her. Voices became muffled and for the first time in a while she felt at peace.

"Izzy! Izzy! IZZY!" A voice pulled her from the book.

"It's time to go to class" Lily said dragging her out of her seat. "We all have potions together"

The group all walked to potions together and were greeted by Professor Slughorn at the door. "Why hello there Ms. Evans and Ms. Lupin. How are my two best students?"

"It's like we don't even exist" whispered Sirius to James

"We are good professor" said Izzy "How about you?"

"Oh you know as good as anyone could be" he chuckled "Well you should all get to your seats"

The group made their way inside to find that there was a seating chart on the board. Izzy scanned through the names it seemed that Peter and Lily were put together as well as James and Remus she read further hoping to be put with someone she knew. She finally read the name placed by hers 'Sirius Black'. Sighing she looked to the table they were assigned somehow Sirius had read faster and was already sitting there. 'This is going to be a long year' she thought to herself.

She made her way to the table and said "Please tell me your semi decent at potions"

"Oh yah totally! I'm amazing at potions"

"Why do I find that hard to believe?"

"That's a great question. You should ask yourself why your such an untrusting person"

"Your infuriating sometimes Sirius"

"Right back at you Iz"

The class doors shut and Slughorn walked up to the front of the class "Hello and welcome to the first class of potions. Now I suppose you should have all gotten your advanced potions books and I you could please open them to page 20" The class quickly went to that page and read the title "Now who can tell me the purpose of the Draught of Peace" a couple of students raised their hands in that group were Lily and Izzy. "Ms. Lupin if you would"

"The Draught of Peace's purpose is to provide comfort, calm anxiety, and soothe agitation" Izzy said

"Precisely Ms. Lupin! 10 points for Ravenclaw" Slughorn announced. "Now we will be making this potion today although we will not be working in partners just yet. I would like to be able to gauge each of your own skills before you work together. Now please take out your cauldrons and be sure to follow the directions extremely closely"
