16. The Ball

Izzy pulled on her heels while stumbling down the stairs to the Gryffindor parking lot. She could here Lily, Alice, and Marlene, one of the Ravenclaw beaters, laughing below.

"Izzy! Hurry up!" Lily hollered "this is why I wanted you to get ready early"

"I'm coming, I'm coming" Izzy hurried down the stairs to meet them

"Finally. Let's go before we're late. The boys are waiting for us there, we'll boys and girl" Lily corrected herself looking at Marlene with a grin.

"You all look brilliant by the way" Izzy said gazing at her friends who all wore gorgeous ball gowns. Lily's wore a silky emerald green dress that hugged her waist, Alice had a purple dress that puffed out around her hips, and Marlene had a red dress that had a slit following her leg.

"And you do as well" Alice smiled at her looking at her dark blue A-line dress.

"Aww thanks Al. Now lets go before Lily kills us all" Izzy smirked looking at Lily who's arms were crossed looking at them all as though they had gotten expelled.

The girls all walked to the great hall laughing. They rounded the corner to get there and spotted their dates. Marlene quickly descended the staircase and ran to a girl that Izzy recognized as Dorcas, one of her friends in Ravenclaw, Marlene took her hand and walked into the ball together.

Alice was already standing next to Frank giving him a small kiss on his cheek while Lily and Izzy walked down the stairs together. Izzy couldn't help but notice that Sirius had turned from his date to stare directly at her. She looked at the stairs attempting to not blush as they made their way to James who grinned foolishly at Lily.

"Your gorgeous date" Izzy said as though she was presenting Lily to James.

"You look absolutely gorgeous" James smiled taking Lily's hand.

"Treat her right" Izzy winked while walking away

Izzy quickly found Peter and walked over to him. "Izzy, you look, just- wow" He stammered

"Aww you're adorable" Izzy smiled holding out her arm "Shall we?". Peter took her arm and they walked into the ball together. Izzy could feel Sirius glaring at them and turned around as they entered to give him a quick glance. They stared at eachother for a moment before they each turned back.

Izzy gazed around the Great Hall. The normal candle lit ceiling with stars had been replaced with snow though it disappeared right before it hit her head. The banners around the hall were now silver and blue. A band stood where the teacher table would usually be and lights were trained on them as they played rock music. A crowd had gathered around them jumping to the beat. Izzy looked at Peter and found him looking around in hall as well.

"Wanna dance?" Izzy asked motioning to the crowd

"Erm sure" Peter rubbed his neck awkwardly

They walked over and joined the crowd of moving people. Izzy began to dance along to the beat her hands in the air. She laughed, smiling at Peter as he nervously moved around.

"Your dancing wrong" Izzy giggled loudly to speak above the music

"I thought you couldn't dance wrong" Peter asked

"Oh no you definitely can dance wrong" Izzy grinned "Try being more lose"

"Lose?" Peter asked

"Look as though you are actually enjoying yourself" Izzy answered

"I am enjoying myself" Peter defended

"Then relax a bit" Izzy said touching is shoulder reassuringly "Why don't we sit down for a bit" Peter and Izzy left the crowd and walked over to a table where Lily, James, and Remus were sitting. "Hey guys" Izzy slid into the seat next to Remus.
