20. Christmas

Izzy opened her eyes and smiled as she stepped into the Potter's living room. She and her brother had just arrived via floo network and they were both buzzing with excitement to see their friend. Their parents who were supposed to come with them decided just to drop in for the Christmas party and had told Fleamont and Euphemia to look after them.

"Izzy, Remus!" James shouted running down the stairs "I missed you two so much"

"We missed you too" Remus laughed hugging James

Izzy ruffled his already unruly hair and then asked "Where are Mia and Fleamont?" They had both insisted that James's friends address them informally.

"They are out on a auror mission but they'll be back soon" James smiled "Come on you'll stay in your normal rooms"

Izzy and Remus had been given rooms to sleep in since first year when they visited the Potters Christmas. This house was like a 3rd home to them after Hogwarts and their own house. Sirius also had a room but his parents rarely let him visit, though if you looked in there it was filled with pictures of motorcycles and seemed like his dream room.

They both got to their rooms and Izzy sighed looking out of her window. She always forgot how big James house was. It had a large back garden with a small fountain that was frozen, there was also a large pond, and a steep hill perfect for sledding in the winters. The house was even more amazing. There was 9 bathrooms, 7 bedrooms, a ballroom, a library. Izzy's favorite part was the roof that you could climb to and watch the stars from.

Izzy left her room and down to the library. It was definitely smaller than the one at Hogwarts but it was filled with the smell of paper and had books in it that were filled with magic forbidden at Hogwarts, advanced curses and whatnot. She let her fingers run over the book spines before stopping at one that caught her eye 'Animagi, the Animal Within'. She had figured out that Sirius, James, and Peter were animagi 4th year but hadn't given much thought to actually becoming one herself. But, this would be the best way to help Remus. He would have someone to be with when he turned at home, plus she could help him at school too. She pulled the book out of the shelf and opened the first page 'Warning: this is an advanced and dangerous process. Do not complete if you are not of age and have not registered with the Ministry'. Taking a deep breath Izzy turned to the second page. She read the first chapter of the book which talked mostly about the theory of turning. After, she pocketed the book and walked back to her room, hiding the book under the clothes in her bag.

"Izzy it's nearly time for dinner" James said knocking on her door causing her to jump back from the bag in surprise.

"Alright, I'll be down in a second" Izzy responded

She heard James's footsteps recede back down the stairs and took a deep breath before following him. When she got to the dinning room Remus and James were laughing with a fully set meal on the table.

"Izzy" They both said smiling as she walked into the room

"Hello boys" She smirked taking a seat across from Remus

"Does Miss Lupin need anything" A small house elf asked from the end of the table

"No Mippy, thank you" Izzy said

"Peter is going to come over tomorrow for the sledding before the Christmas Eve party" James stated

"Anyone else we know coming?" Izzy asked

"Nope" James said his mouth full of food "So Remus what pranks are you planning for us?"

The rest of dinner was fairly normal with the usual planning of back to school pranks. Until they heard an apparition noise from the living room. They all approached cautiously with their wands drawn until they saw it was Mia and Fleamont.
