Izzy could hear people laughing and Christmas music below her as she began to walk down the stairs. She wore a red lacy short dress that scooped low on her back. When she got down to the party she saw her parents standing off in a corner talking to a wizard that had a wonky looking eye, upon closer inspection she could tell that it could rotate all the way around his head. Remus caught her staring and walked up behind her.
"That's Alastor Moody" He said quietly "He's a serious Auror, lost his eye to it"
"I reckon we ought to say hi" Izzy said with a brush of confidence. She walked over to her parents and held out her hand. "Izamene Lupin, pleasure to make your acquaintance"
"Ah, you can call me Moody" He said watching as Remus quickly caught up to Izzy stumbling behind her "You must be Remus"
"Erm yes sir" Remus said weakly
"My parents and Dumbledore have told me a lot about you both" Moody said gruffly
"Dumbledore?" Remus and Izzy both asked at the same time
"Yes, you both do fairly well in academics from what I hear" Moody squinted with his good eye "I believe Dumbledore will talk to you after break about something Izamene"
"M-me?" Izzy stammered her confidence lost
"Yes, now I best be off" he said walking towards the front door before turning back "And remember, constant vigilance"
Izzy turned back to her parents looking worried. "I'm sure it's nothing dear" Hope said reassuringly "Now go on and enjoy your Christmas"
She shooed them off and they quickly went off to find James and Peter. They found them in the kitchen eating desserts as Mippy was snapping them out into the dinning room.
"Remus, Izzy there you are" James said his words muffled by a cookie "This is the best place to be on a holiday"
"You get first dibs on all of the food" Peter said taking a bite of his cake
"Yah that sounds brilliant" Izzy said her mind distracted. Remus took her hand and squeezed it reassuringly.
"You ok?" Peter asked noticing the exchange
Izzy nodded and grabbed a piece of pie off a plate sitting on the counter so she could eat it. The group stayed in the kitchen for a bit longer before they went out for some dancing. Remus and Izzy jokingly danced a poor mans salsa to a fast paced Christmas song. James and Peter did an Irish jig which made a lot of the party goers laugh. After a while a slow song came on and Izzy and Remus watched as their parents danced to it.
"Do you think that you'll ever marry someone?" Izzy asked suddenly
"I don't know if someone will ever want to marry me" Remus said absentmindedly watching their parents
"They will" Izzy said confidently "I don't know if I want to get married"
"Why not" Remus turned to her
"It just seems so plain" Izzy explained "You have kids, retire, grow old, all that stuff. But where's the adventure? Where's traveling the world? Or meeting fun people? Or dancing in the rain?"
"Maybe you just need to find the right person to do that with" Remus suggested
"I thought you didn't want me to date" Izzy laughed
"Oh don't get me wrong, I don't. But when it inevitably happens at least have it be with someone who enjoys living as much as you do" Remus laughed
