Mariah
Knock
KnockI knew that I had a key to get into Jerome's house, but I left it at my house because I was in a huge rush this morning.
"Who is it?" A girl answered from the opposite side of the door, and I told her it was me, and the door opened.
"Hey Mariah." Jerome'e daughter said, and I spoke and hugged her.
"Got somewhere to be?" I asked her.
"Yes, I have to go meet my mom at Starbucks for coffee. Tell my dad I'll talk to him later and that I love him." She said before shutting the door.
Jerome came downstairs in nothing but a towel, and I giggled and I tried to look away.
"Oh shit Mariah!" He gasped. "You didn't tell me you was coming."
"I'm sorry, I thought you knew by the text I sent you this morning." I said showing him my phone, and he laughed.
"My bad ma. Let me go get dressed, and I'll be down here in a few minutes." He said running back upstairs.
The towel should've fell off.
About 5 minutes later, Jerome came back downstairs with a white t-shirt, and some basketball shorts. No matter what this man wears, he is so fucking fine!
"So beautiful, what brings you by?" He asked me while sitting next to me.
"I've been a wreck Jerome, and I know that I should move on, but I can't." I said referring to the Monique situation.
"Oh yeah. You told me very little about the situation." He said looking at me.
I took a deep breath. "When I was thirteen, I had Monique. Deep down inside, I wasn't ready to become a mother only because I was so young, but I had a great support system. The only one who didn't support me was my sister Anita, who's now dead. She was dealing with my baby father while I was dealing with him, and basically she turned him against me even when he didn't want to go against me. Anita paid me money every single week to not see Monique. Being that I was in Detroit living in an apartment by myself, I needed the money for rent and groceries so I took the Monique, and I didn't see Monique until she was about 10 maybe, and Anita told her that I was her cousin."
"Fast forward when Monique was 15, I decided to come back into her life because I was tired of hiding. I needed to make things right with her, and let her kids know who I was exactly. When I told Monique who I was, she didn't want to talk to me at first, and it was understandable. I was so hurt Jerome. Especially for the mistakes I did. I could've said no to the money, and went to go see my daughter, but I didn't. So, this is the part where things get crazy. You remember I was telling you Monique was going with August right? Well, after that night that everything happened, August, me, and the rest of us decided to leave the house for a little bit while Monique and Kyree stayed at the house because we didn't want Monique in that type of space being that she was 8 months pregnant. Well, when we got back to the house, we caught the both of them having sex."
