Anita
"Look, we made a deal," Mariah said. "You know damn well I've always wanted to see my daughter, but you insisted on giving me money every week so I wouldn't see Monique."
"YOU ARE MY BLOOD SISTER MARIAH AND YOU SLEPT WITH MY MAN! MONIQUE HASN'T SEEN YOU SINCE SHE WAS A LITTLE KID. AND SHE DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE HER MOTHER WAS IN HER LIFE THE WHOLE ENTIRE TIME! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO TELL HER THAT HER FATHER SLEPT WITH MY SISTER?!" I yelled.
Mariah smirked. "Listen Anita, and listen to me well. You have until Sunday to tell Monique the truth or I will fly to New Orleans myself and tell Monique who I really am. HAVE A NICE DAY!"
"If you come one step to Monique I-"
"You what? See Anita people don't even recognize the low down dirty bitch you are. You real life paid me so I couldn't be around her. And when I was around her, she looked at me like I was her cousin. Well Nita, enough is enough. Mark my words!" Mariah said as she walked out the door.
I sat in the chair and sighed. This was too much for me. I should've told Monique the truth while she asked for it, but instead I didn't. There has to be some other way for Monique not to know what I've done or who her real mother is. There has to be a way. It has to be.
Monique
"I GOT TO MOVE ON AND BE WHO I AMMM .. I JUST DON'T BELONG HERE I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND .." I sung.
"Yeaaa singing ain't for you baby," aunt Miyah said from the kitchen and me and my cousin Tiffany started laughing.
Since I've been in New Orleans, I've felt loved. I met so many of my family members and I've see some other people who I haven't seen since I was a kid.
"Aunty Miyah?" I asked.
"Wassup pooh?" She replied.
"Where's my cousin Mariah? I haven't seen her in I don't know how long." I said.
"She's in Detroit for business right now but she should be back real soon." Aunty Miyah said while she finished washing the dishes.
"Well I hope she comes home really really soon," I said remembering the memories me and Mariah had together. "I miss her so much!"
I remember when Anita took me to go see Mariah. Anita told me that she was a friend of the family, but me and Mariah grew up like family so we would always say we were cousins. She didn't even show up to my dad's funeral, but just like the rest of the family, I doubt she even knew about it.
