~The Next Day~

“Is she serious?” Jasmine asked, walking down the hall with Fred and George. “We’re not going to be using magic? She can’t be serious.”

“Are you questioning my teachings, Miss Potter?” Jasmine tensed up and turned around, seeing Umbridge standing behind her with a forced smile on her face.

“I am actually. You’d think after last year’s incident the professors would be trying to teach us more about defending ourselves,” Jasmine said.

“Last year’s incident was just a freak accident,” Umbridge said.

“Last year’s incident was planned by Death Eaters,” Jasmine said.

“Lies!” Umbridge yelled, before regaining her forced smile. “Come to my office. Immediately.” Jasmine sighed and walked with Umbridge back to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom and upstairs to her office. She cringed at the bright pink decor and cat plates hanging on the wall. It was crazy that it used to be Remus’s office only two years prior. “Have a seat.” Jasmine sat down at a desk in front of Umbridge’s. She sat down and made herself a cup of tea, as Harry poked his head into the office. “Come in, Mr. Potter.” Harry walked inside and closed the door behind him. “Have a seat.” Harry sat down at a desk beside Jasmine’s and mentally sighed, seeing that she was somehow in trouble as well. “You two have been questioning my authority and coming up with stories. I will be punishing you both for being disrespectful and dishonest.” She stood up from her desk and walked behind their desks slowly. “You will both be writing lines. Mr. Potter, you will write ‘I must not tell lies’. Miss Potter, you will be writing ‘I must respect authority’.” They both began reaching into their cloaks to grab their quills from their bags. “No, no, no. I have special quills for you to use.” She sat a black feather quill onto each of their desks, before continuing on with her quiet stroll around the office.

“How many lines do we write?” Harry asked, looking up at Umbridge.

“You will both write until you understand the message.” She smiled at them, it almost seemed genuine. Jasmine looked over at Harry, who looked back at her in confusion, before they picked up their quills and began writing their lines on paper. Jasmine finished her first line and began wincing, feeling a scratching pain in her right hand. Once the pain was too much, she looked down at her right hand, and watched as the line she wrote was carved into her hand slowly. Jasmine began to tear up at the pain, but continued to write her lines, feeling Umbridge watching her. She wouldn’t dare let Umbridge get the satisfaction of seeing her cry. Harry, who was trying to swallow his own pain, continued to write his lines as well, occasionally looking over at Jasmine. He felt bad that he couldn’t comfort her, it reminded him of when he couldn’t help her at the cemetery. That hurt more than the painful feeling of words being carved into his hand.

~A little later~

Jasmine and Harry walked back into the Gryffindor common room.

“I’m going to go study,” Harry said quietly. Jasmine nodded quietly, wiping away some tears with her uninjured hand.

“Jasmine? What happened?” Fred asked, walking over to Jasmine with George not far behind.

“She’s so cruel,” Jasmine said, letting out a small whimper as she pulled up her sleeve, showing them her hand. The twins looked shocked, staring at the words carved into Jasmine’s hand. Fred could feel anger bubbling up inside of him, but all he could do was watch Jasmine try to choke back tears.

“Jasmine...” Fred said, before pulling Jasmine into a hug. Jasmine cried into his shoulder, clinging to him. “Come on, let’s get your hand cleaned up.” He walked up to the bathroom, leading George and Jasmine. Jasmine sat down on the bathroom floor and stared at her hand, not saying a word. Fred sat down beside her and pulled out his wand.
