~Days later~
Jasmine sat by a tree in the school courtyard, looking up at the sky.
“Jasmine!” Jasmine looked in the direction she heard the voice call from. She smiled a little seeing Cedric jog over to her with his potions textbooks.
“Hey, Cedric,” Jasmine said. “Ready to review?” Cedric plopped down beside her and sat the books down in the grass.
“Yeah,” Cedric said.
“Great, I think we’re testing over Amortentia,” Jasmine said, flipping to a chapter in the textbook.
“Thanks for studying this with me. My friends never take the class seriously,” Cedric said.
“I know,” Jasmine said, chuckling a little. “But, it’s no problem.” Cedric smiled and looked at Jasmine, before looking at the textbook. The two briefly reviewed their notes for a few minutes, having studied together a whole week prior to the upcoming test.
“Are you nervous about this?” Cedric asked.
“Not really, potions is my favorite class. Even if Snape hates my guts,” Jasmine said.
“You’re his prized pupil in our class. He doesn’t hate you,” Cedric said.
“I am? He said that?” Jasmine asked, sounding surprised.
“He suggested that I study with you last year. That has to be something,” Cedric said. “I just didn’t know how to talk to you.”
“Oh, aww, you were too scared to talk to me?” Jasmine teased. Cedric chuckled a little, growing flustered.
“Yeah. In class, you’re so focused and seem like you didn’t want to talk to anyone, then I saw you with the Weasleys over the summer, and I decided to take a chance. You being in the tournament kind of helped me a little with talking to you,” Cedric said. Jasmine felt her face heating up and looked at him.
“So...you’ve been interested in me before this year?” she asked.
“Well, yeah. It’s not every year a smart, beautiful witch enrolls at Hogwarts,” Cedric said.
“Well there’s Hermione,” Jasmine said.
“That’s true,” Cedric said. “But she’s not you.”
“W-well that’s true,” Jasmine said, growing more flustered. She looked down at the textbook, before, feeling a hand gently guide her to face Cedric’s direction. Cedric gave her a gentle smile and leaned in slowly. She leaned in as well, feeling her heart race. She closed her eyes and felt her lips touch his softly. Cedric gently rested his hand on her jaw, pulling her face closer to his. They pulled away after a few seconds, both of them a deep shade of red now. Jasmine was speechless, this was her first kiss with any boy, and she was a little disappointed. Most girls say when they had their first kiss they felt a spark, she didn’t feel anything. She enjoyed the kiss though and seeing Cedric’s face, she could tell that he enjoyed it as well.
“Maybe we should head to class,” Cedric suggested, picking up his books. Jasmine nodded in agreement and handed Cedric his book that she was using, before standing up.
“Do you want to walk together?” Jasmine asked.
“Yeah, that would be great,” Cedric agreed. He stood up quickly and walked beside her. Jasmine smiled and walked with him, holding his hand.
‘He’s not the one,’ she thought. ‘Or he could be?’
~Time Skip~ (Potions class)
Jasmine began working on her potion carefully. Since she studied for this test for an entire week straight she didn’t have to look at the recipe as much as everyone else. Once she finished she raised her hand, getting Snape’s attention. Snape walked over to Jasmine and inspected her potion. He nodded in approval and looked down at Jasmine.
“Very good, Miss Potter,” Snape said.
“Thank you, Professor.” Jasmine caught a whiff of her potion. She smelled something smokey, like gunpowder, before smelling something sweet, like a pastry. The final scent that hit her nose was familiar to her, it seemed to calm her, though she couldn’t recognize it.
“You are excused, Miss Potter,” Snape said, interrupting Jasmine’s thoughts.
“Right. Thank you, Professor,” Jasmine said. She grabbed her books and left the classroom. She made her way upstairs from the dungeon and felt something zip past her once she reached the top of the stairs. “What was that...?” she decided to follow it, wanting to get a better look at it. It was a small ball of sparks, almost like a muggle sparkler without a stick. It zipped around the corner again, Jasmine following it. Being so focused on the glowing object she was chasing, Jasmine ran into someone, knocking them both down. “Gah!” she yelled in surprise.
“Bloody hell! Oh, hi Jasmine,” Jasmine looked down and to her surprise saw that she was laying on top of Fred.
“Are you guys okay?” George asked, jogging over with the ball of sparks in his hand. Jasmine quickly climbed off of Fred and dusted off her cloak.
“Yeah,” Jasmine said, helping Fred up. “Sorry, Freddie. I should have been watching where I was going.”
“It’s fine, Jas. Were you going somewhere?” Fred asked.
“No, actually I was chasing that thing,” Jasmine said, pointing at the ball of sparks in George’s hands. “Is that a new product you guys are working on?”
“It is. It’s a real attention grabber isn’t it?” George said, tossing it up into the air.
“It sure is,” Jasmine said, shaking out her curls. “What are you two doing out here anyway? Aren’t you guys supposed to be in charms class?”
“We were, but Flitwick insisted that we leave for the day,” Fred said. Jasmine chuckled a bit and shook her head.
“Of course he did. Well I’m finished with potions for the day. I have some time before my next class, so maybe we could hang out a bit? Since we haven’t hung out in a while,” Jasmine asked.
“That’d be great,” the twins said, smiling.
“Okay, well. What should we do?” Jasmine asked.
“Well, we can’t get you in trouble. You having morals and all. So maybe we could just play with this a bit,” George said, holding the sparkly ball out to Jasmine, who picked it up carefully.
“Okay, so what do I do? Do I just throw it?” Jasmine asked, looking up at George.
“Yeah, you just throw it,” George said. Jasmine nodded and threw the ball, sending it zipping it down the hall.
“Nice throw,” Fred said.
“Thanks,” Jasmine said.
“Um, we should go look for it,” George said.
“I agree, George,” Fred said, looking at his younger twin. They both looked down the hall to see that Jasmine was already jogging down the hall.
“Come on, slow pokes!” she called, still jogging. They grinned at each other and ran after their friend.
