“Welcome back students!” Dumbledore announced. “I’d like to welcome our new staff and make an announcement,” he said. “Let’s give a warm welcome to Professor Remus Lupin, your new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher,” he said. Lupin stood up, as the students began to applaud. “And your new Care of Magical Creatures teacher, Rubeus Hagrid,” Dumbledore continued. Hagrid stood up briefly, nearly knocking the table over with his knee. “Now for the announcement. We are having a new student that will be attending Hogwarts this year. Please give a warm welcome to Jasmine Potter!” This made the trio look at each other in surprise.

“Another Pottah?” Draco Malfoy asked snobbishly. “Guess you're not much of an orphan after all, Pottah,” he spat at Harry, smirking at him. Jasmine made her way to the front of the grand hall, everyone watching her.

“Jasmine will be a fourth year student this year. Let’s get you sorted into your house, young lady,” Dumbledore said, guiding Jasmine over to Professor McGonagall, who was holding the sorting hat. Jasmine sat down on the stool and sat still as McGonagall sat the hat on top of Jasmine’s head.

“Ah, another Potter. Hm...a brave one, someone who is willing to help anyone at any cost...but you're also very loyal,” the hat muttered. “Hmmm...I know exactly where to put you...GRYFFINDOR!!!” the hat announced, making the Gryffindor students cheer.

“I didn’t know you had a sister, Harry,” Seamus Finnigan said to Harry.

“I don’t, at least I don’t think I do,” Harry said, looking at Jasmine. Jasmine walked over to the Gryffindor table.

“Welcome to Gryffindor,” Ron said.

“Thanks, I feel welcome,” Jasmine said, smiling a bit.

“Let's introduce you to our friends while we're all here,” Harry said.

“Okay,” Jasmine agreed, spooning some potatoes onto her plate. Harry began introducing Jasmine to all of the Gryffindor students he personally knew.

“Hopefully you can make an impression like Harry has. That's some big shoes to fill,” Seamus Finnigan, one of Harry's friends said, picking up a piece of roasted chicken.

“I doubt I could, I don't have too much of a reputation. I'll do my best though,” Jasmine said, spooning some green beans onto her plate. “Could you pass the chicken, please?” Seamus picked up the plate and reached over, so Jasmine could grab what she wanted.

“I could have just handed it to her,” Ron muttered.

“You weren't fast enough, Weasley,” Seamus said.

“Thank you,” Jasmine said, setting her helping of roasted chicken on her plate, while giggling. Hermione and Harry were both trying not to laugh. Seamus smiled and gave a nod, before setting the plate of chicken back down on the table. 'Very friendly crowd indeed,' she thought, beginning to eat her food.

“So, Jasmine. You're related to the new professor, right?” Ron asked.

“That's right,” Jasmine confirmed.

“Any idea on what we'll be learning this year?” Ron asked.

“Nope,” Jasmine said, eating a bit of her potatoes.

“You don't know?” Ron asked.

“No, I do,” Jasmine said. “I'm just not supposed to tell. I've been sworn to secrecy. And Remus really wants to surprise you all. Just know that you'll like it.”

“Why didn’t you tell us?” Harry asked Jasmine, walking up the stairs. It was something he wanted to ask during dinner, but couldn't, since Jasmine was being bombarded with a wave of questions.

“Would you have believed me if I told you?” Jasmine asked, looking at Harry.

“So you are his sister?” Ron asked.

“Technically I’m his aunt. James was my adopted brother. I was adopted a few months before the attack,” Jasmine said. Harry nodded, trying to process everything. “I’m just glad to have finally met you,” she said. “From the pictures I’ve seen of James, you look just like him.”

“I get that a lot,” Harry said, giving her a small smile. They walked up to the painting and saw the rest of the Gryffindor students crowding the painting in front of the Gryffindor common room.

“What’s the hold up?” Ron asked.

“The fat lady won’t let us in,” Fred, one of Ron’s older brothers said.

“What’s she doing?” Jasmine asked.

“Attempting to sing,” George, another one of Ron’s older brothers and Fred's twin, answered. Jasmine nodded, before looking at the two, then over at Ron.

“Are you three related?” Jasmine asked.

“Yeah, what gave it away?” Ron asked. “These are my older brothers Fred and George.”

“Hi,” Both boys said in unison.

“Hi,” Jasmine said, smiling at them, before looking at Ron. “Would it be rude if I said the red hair?”

“No, that’s usually the giveaway,” Ron said with a sigh. “We have a little sister, who's somewhere around here.” The students, after finally talking to the fat lady in the painting, filed into the common room, complaining about how annoying the fat lady was. Jasmine followed the twins into the common room and looked around in awe.

“Wow, this room is huge,” Jasmine said.

“Yeah, it is,” Harry said. “Can I ask you something?”

“Sure, what is it?” Jasmine asked, looking over at him. Harry walked Jasmine over to a private area, away from the remaining students, who haven’t gone to their rooms yet.

“Do you know anything about Sirius Black?” Harry asked softly, not wanting anyone else to hear.

“You mean the man that escaped Azkaban?” Jasmine asked.

“Yeah,” Harry said.

“Other than he attended Hogwarts and was locked up in Azkaban for twelve years, no. Why what’s up?” Jasmine asked.

“I think he’s going to come looking for me,” Harry said. “I think he wants to kill me,” Jasmine stepped back in surprise, before shaking her head.

“I won’t let that happen,” Jasmine said. “I already lost your father and my parents...I can’t lose you too. Not when I’m just now meeting you.”

“I know,” Harry said. “I’m going to need your help. I need to find information on Sirius.”

“Anything. I’ll start doing research after class tomorrow. I could ask Remus about him as well, hopefully he spills some beans,” Jasmine said.

“Thank you, Jasmine,” Harry said.

“No need, we're family. We look out for each other,” Jasmine said. Harry smiled and gave her a hug, which she returned. “I’m gonna go to bed. The dinner and all of those questions are starting to take a toll on me,” Jasmine said, heading upstairs to the girl’s rooms. “Goodnight, Harry.”

“Okay, goodnight,” Harry said.
