Back to the Present
How was it that her thoughts were spiraling so much and yet she had not a single thought in her mind? It was like seeing the vast ocean and trying to salvage as much of it as you can to yourself. Her thoughts were the ocean. The more she tried to grasp onto an understanding of them, the faster they slipped through her finger tips, so although her mind was full, her head was empty.
They seemed to be driving an eternity, but time moved fast as they were both lost in their own thoughts.
Minghao snapped out of his thoughts, realizing that they were nearing a familiar area. They were close to headquarters. Glancing sideways at Ah ro, he sighed. Clearing his throat to ease into the silence.
"Erm- before we get to the place I'm taking you, remember how I said you aren't really an orphan?" Ah ro glanced at him annoyed. "I wasn't lying you know. You still have family. So- like- mentally prepare yourself for that."
'Family?' Images of Jisung, Hana, NCT and the girls popped up in here head. That was who she considered family.
Family- she didn't need a family. She thought Jisung was family and he hurt her so much. He almost killed her. She thought Sola and Taeil were family and they abandoned her. Threw her to the wolves. She quickly looked at Minghao from the corner of her eyes.
She remembered how he was one of her attackers and captors when Mina betrayed her and Hana, but he was also the person who saved her from getting crushed in the building crash. Then again, he was a part of the group who planned it. One second he is trying to kill her, the next he claims he loves and that he knows her past.
Ah ro brushed her fingers through her knotted hair and blew out air from her mouth. A headache was growing just thinking about all of that. She was half convinced that Minghao had some multiple personality disorder and one of his personalities hated her and the other one loved her. That was the only way all of it would make sense. Also he was claiming she had family, that planted the seed of suspicion within her. Ah ro leaned back to go over the facts.
'Okay Ro, think. Why is he switching up on me like that?
Oh wait I think I got it. So maybe when the building collapsed he got stuck too, and realized that neither of us were going to die, so to gain my trust he pretended to save me.
But he did actually save me.
No, don't overthink it. It has to be true. So that would mean that the whole family thing was a lie. Minghao is probably taking me straight to Seventeen's headquarters. Oh my God! They are going to torture me and kill me. I was so stupid. Why did I ever agree to leave with him. I should have just run away by myself because even Sola Unnie didn't want me.'
The teenager's thoughts were running a mile a minute. Minghao spotted the familiar house and slammed the breaks, knocking Ah ro out of her sea of thoughts. Ah ro looked up at the house and furrowed her brows, it was surrounded by trees. She looked around, her head snapping left and right and back. Trees and more trees. They were in the goddamn forest, and now Ah ro was convinced that her thoughts were right. This was all a ploy to get her here and kill her. She gulped.
Minghao could sense her anxiety. Gazing at her from his seat, his eyes dropped to her shaking hands. They rested on her lap and she intertwined them to keep them from shaking so obviously. Minghao reached forward placing his warm hand on hers, but upon his touch she flinched and moved her hands away. Jisung's face popping into her mind. She shook away her thoughts of him, because they were anything but comforting. Honestly, she was scared of Jisung at this point too. All she could think about was his lifeless eyes as he strangled her. She thought she was really going to die.
Ah ro scoffed, humorlessly, as she gazed into the distance. Lately, all her thoughts revolved around her inevitable demise. Ah ro told herself to just accept it at this point. It seemed everyone wanted her dead and honestly she was starting to want it too.
"Ready to go? They are probably waiting for you."
Ah ro sighed. 'Don't be scared Moon Ah ro- no it is just Ah ro. Don't be scared Ah ro. What do you have to live for anyway?' She thought to herself.
Nodding, she opened the car door. She didn't bring any of her things from the hotel because she was in a rush to leave wanting to get away from the people who had brought her so much hurt. It was almost ironic. It was the people who taught her how to love, that also taught her hate and betrayal.
Minghao, circled around reaching Ah ro just as she stepped out of his Jeep. Ah ro's eyes widened then she noticed something splattered on the dirt a little distance from them.
Blood.
Gulping again, she kept her mind occupied to keep her from being too scared. Minghao, grabbed her hand, Ah ro was quick to pull away. She looked away from him. No matter how scared of Jisung she was, she would never betray him like that. Minghao could almost read her thoughts. Rolling his eyes, he grabbed her wrist this time.
The approached the 15 feet tall mahogany doors that lead to the front of the house. Having such a large entrance way was stupid for a gang. It would be easier for enemies to infiltrate. Ah ro expected Minghao to knock, but instead he pushed open the doors. They were unlocked. How stupid, Ah ro thought.
They entered the foyer. Ah ro was quick to look around in case she somehow found the will to live and decided to escape. Every part of the house seemed to be lit up.
"Is this Sevent-"
"I told you, we're here to see you-" Minghao got cut off as well. Ah ro looked around confused trying to find the source of the unknown voice.
"Mama, you're up early. Is everyone else up?" Minghao asked stepping towards an older lady who emerged from what seemed to be the shadows, but the lady ignored her son, she stepped around him her eyes locking with Ah ro's.
"How could any of us sleep? This is the day we have been looking forward to for 16 years." Although she was speaking to Minghao, her eyes were gazing over Ah ro. Minghao's resemblance to his mother was uncanny, even Ah ro spotted it as soon as she saw her.
"Hello, Ah ro. There is someone who has been waiting relentlessly for you." Ah ro drew her eyebrows together in confusion 'So Minghao was telling the truth? He didn't lie to get me alone? Wait am I Minghao's sister. Is this lady my mother. I am Chinese?!' She shook her head. No there was no way that Minghao and Ah ro were related because he kissed her.
"Mama do we tell her the backstory before she meets him?"
"Wait, what is happening? What backstory? Meeting who?"
