Ah ro rushed out of the room as the adults began filling out the legal paperwork. Ah ro refused to cry. Jisung was right, this wasn't her home. She never had a home and she never will. It was wrong of her to ever grow attached to a place. She didn't have that right, as an orphan.
Her room was a slight mess. Her blankets were thrown around the room, but the last time she was in here was a bit chaotic. Ah ro forced herself to begin packing because if she gave herself a second to think she would probably start bawling on the floor. Ah ro was annoyed with herself acting like a damsel in distress. She needed to grow up and deal with matters like the mature 17 year old she is.
She tossed her backpack by the door and open her drawers to pack her clothes.
"How the hell am I supposed to pack if I don't have suitcases." Ah ro rolled her eyes.
The door to the room squealed open. Taeil had forced Jisung to go help Ah ro while he and Sola finished up the paperwork. Jisung brough the boxes that Sola had put in the back of the car for Ah ro up to her room.
Jisung expected Ah ro to throw a temper tantrum and kick him out, but instead she ignored him. She took out her clothes and put them on her bed. Jisung plopped down on the bed and tossed the boxes onto the floor. He laid down on the bed and began playing on his phone. Ah ro glared at the side of his face while she worked.
"What?" Jisung finally asked as he looked over at the glaring girl. Ah ro didn't reply. She looked away and continued packing. Jisung sat up and stared at her.
"Ugh." He groaned. "Taeil Hyung is going to kill me if I don't help. So what do you want me to do."
Ah ro inwardly scoffed, did the boy really expect her to reply when he was the reason for all of this. She was not going to talk to him, ever.
Jisung waited for her to reply.
"Can you speak?" Jisung was starting to get annoyed. When he was met with silence again, he walked closer to her. Grabbing her forearm, he turned around to face him.
"Why are you mad at me? I didn't do anything." Ah ro shoved him away. Jisung pouted, not used to girls pushing him away or ignoring him.
Jisung decided he would just help her for now and then she would probably forgive him after he helped, although Jisung wasn't sure why Ah ro was so mad at him. It was Taeyong's idea for Taeil to adopt her, not his.
They worked in silence piling her clothes into the boxes that Jisung brought. They finished rather quickly since Ah ro didn't own that much. She had two boxes for her clothes and then one box for stationary and things like that. Jisung piled them up and picked them up all by himself. He was going to move them into the car.
"Can you open the door?" Instead of Ah ro opening the door. Taeil had opened it from the outside. He grabbed the boxes from Jisung, and turned to Ah ro, "We're going to wait in the car. You can go say bye to everyone." Ah ro nodded.
Jisung felt his heart sink and he knew that that was how Ah ro was feeling. Although the two of them had a healing bond, if one of them was feeling something extreme then the other one could feel it too. Again, Jisung was filled with guilt. He tried his best to swallow it as they walked to the car. Taeil had put the boxes in the back and then pulled the car forward so that it was right in front of the main gate. Sola, Taeil, and Jisung watched as Ah ro said her goodbyes to the people who, over the years, became her family.
Ah ro finally released the waterworks she had been holding in all day. She felt torn and frightened to leave the people she loved to move in with people she didn't even know. She hugged each of the kids individually and each worker. Last, she looked over at the woman who helped her through everything.
"Halmeoni." Her voice cracked as she called out to the older lady. Hameoni reached out to her. Ah ro ran up to her and hugged her tightly.
"You'll be happier with them Ah ro-ah. And if you ever need anything, we will always be right here for you." With one last squeeze, Halmeoni pulled away from the hug and urged Ah ro to go towards the car.
"Now go with your new family, and stop crying. Show us that smile we all love Ro." Ah ro quickly wiped her tears and gave them the most convincing smile she could muster.
She then ran towards the car without another look back. Pulling open the door she got in and slammed it shut. She refused to look back up at them.
"GO! Please just go. Please!" Ah ro begged. Crying loudly. She was having a breakdown. Jisung who had spent the past 24 hours with her hadn't seen her cry this much or this loudly before. Sola looked back from the passenger seat in worry.
"Taeil, stop the car." Sola demanded. Taeil pulled over and unbuckled his seatbelt. Sola and him went to the back where Ah ro was sitting and opened her door.
Sola pulled Ah ro into a hug. Rubbing her back in an attempt to calm her down.
Jisungs grew nervous watching his soulmate crumble before him. It occurred to him that they should have taken things slower in one day her life changed.
Sola stood outside, hugging Ah ro for almost 30 minutes before her cries ceased.
"She's asleep." Taeil whispered from behind Sola.
Jisung reached forwards and helped move Ah ro. He let her rest her head on his shoulder as she slept.
"Let's take her back to HQ, I think meeting the girls today will be too overwhelming." Sola said after the silence in the car settled in.
"I don't know how much more she can take." Taeil sighed.
Jisung looked down at the girl. She seemed too vulnerable to him and for the first time he wanted to protect something instead of destroying things like he usually did. He held her hand in his. He knew he didn't like her yet, but he still wanted to protect her.
