Jarson flicked his ears. "Eh, just some hopeless animal, let's keep moving."

"You aren't serious, are you? We can't just leave someone up there." Phoenix said, disbelief in his voice.

"Up there?" Corrie repeated, a little confused.

"Yes. Obviously, based on the scream, I could tell that the victim who shouted is at a high angle. I'm guessing, if I'm not mistaken, that they're up on that cliff." The wolf explained, tilting his head towards the cliff that was about a mile away.

"Ugh, and we have to walk?" Jarson complained.

"Who said anything about walking!" Corrie exclaimed, leaping on Phoenix's back. "Come on, Jarson. We are going to run. We'll get there sooner."

"Do I have to?"

"Yes, otherwise I'll keep calling you, 'Jar the little furball'." Phoenix snickered.

Jarson let out a disapproving sigh, now joining his brother on Phoenix's back. "But only if you promise to stop."

"Hey, I never said how long! How 'bout this, I'll stop for a few days." Phoenix winked, smiling.

"Well, I better make the time count." The gray cat mumbled, just as the black wolf took off.

"Wow, Phoenix! Your shoulder looks so much better!" Corrie commented, purring.

"Yep. A tough wolf like me be taken down that easily? Pssh. Rubbish. It was nothing really. It healed rather quickly. Quicker than I thought, even."

The hawk let out a terrible sound, and there was another cry for help.

"HELP, THIS BIRD WON'T LEAVE ME ALONE!"

Phoenix without warning lengthed his pace, causing Jarson's claws to nearly sink into Phoenix's skin because of the unexpected acceleration.

"Ouch! Careful, Jarson!"

"Sorry! Just slow down!"

"We can't, she could be dead by the time we get there!"

"She? You can tell it's a female just by the sound? Even my ears aren't that advanced. I just hear a scream, nothing else."

"Mhm, a she-cat to be exact."

"Interesting. Very impressive, Phoenix." Corrie praised the wolf, making him grin.

"Thanks."

Phoenix was old, but his muscles were still very powerful. With ease, he was able to sprint towards the cliff.
