FLASHBACK
LISA's POV
"Few more steps Hon. We're almost there." I whispered at the young woman who was silently gigling as I cover her eyes with my hand and guide her into their roof deck.
"Hun, this is my house remember, why do you need to cover my eyes for? I know exactly where we're heading." The woman laughed lightly. She carefully slid her arms around me, too afraid that she might stumble down while walking with her eyes all covered.
"Hey are you alright? Is this making you dizzy?"
"I'm going to carry you now." I asked worriedly but she just shook her head and smiled.
"I'm fine Lisa. Just like you said, we're just a few more steps away and we're almost there." she answered assuringly but the shaking of her voice and her heavy breathing tell me otherwise.
"No Errin, I'm going to carry you now. The least that I want is to exhaust you especially right after you endured your dialysis session today".
"Close your eyes and no peeking okay" I instructed her the moment I carry her in my arms and placed her in the swing chair sofa that Chu and I had installed last night in preperation for today's event.
"Okay you may now open your eyes Hon." I announced cheerfully at her. Errin opened her eyes and she instantly gasped in wonder the moment she saw the place. The roofdeck was decorated with string lights and other furnitures and garden pots. There are couple of lounge chairs at both side and a coffee table.
But the roofdeck's main highlight is the swing chair sofa that was placed at the center where we currently sit right now.
"How did you do all of that?" She asked still amazed.
"Well I got some help from Chu. We installed this swing last night but the other furnitures were already set since the other day."
"Jeogyeon and Seul helped too. It was Jennie who help me with the design. And your Mom bought and decorated those garden pots yesterday." I answered with a huge grin.
Errin can't help but tear up, as she look around, enjoying the view.
"Happy Birthday Hun." I greeted her with cake and a balloon, almost tearing up.
I don't know why, but there's something about her birthday this year that kinda hits me differently.
I don't know if it's because of her failing condition or the fact that I know that Errin only had a few years to live.
It was just 6 months ago since Errin was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis, a kidney desease where your immune system attacks your kidneys specifically the part of it that filters your blood.
Unfortunately, Errin was diagnosed too late that the infection has caused a great damage in her kidney causing her kidney failures. The doctors suggested a kidney transplant but it was hard getting a donor these days.
I volunteered right away to give her mine but we were not a compatible match. Her Mom, unfortunately can't be a donor either since she has an underlying condition.
And so we were left with no choice but to resort to dialysis treatment until we find a matching donor for her.
Everything happened in a whirlwind. And in those span of gruelling 6 months of treatment, there was never a night that I didn't cry myself to sleep.
