get ready for the confrontation
. . .
Olivia's POV:I'm sitting in the waiting room, and am practically shaking. I'm the last one to audition for the day and I feel like I could throw up. I haven't auditioned for a leading role since Nini. I'm so nervous I'm going to completely embarrass myself. What if I've lost my talent?
"Olivia Rodrigo?" a tall, brunette girl called.
As I walked towards the audition room, I could feel my knees start to shake. Ok, you can do this Olivia. Don't let one asshole dictate your future. Not all on-screen love interests are like that. Believe in yourself.
I took a deep breath, opened the door, and froze.
It's Joshua. Joshua has been cast as Jake. Aka Emily's love interest. Aka the boy I would have to spend every day with pretending to love each other if I get this role.
It feels like we've been staring at each other forever, even though it's probably only been a couple of seconds. I'm making sure not to show any emotion, I don't want him to think he's getting to me.
"U-um sorry. Olivia Rodrigo, 22 years old," I said, handing my resume to the man who I assume is the showrunner.
"Thank you, Olivia," a girl with big curly hair said, "begin whenever you're ready."
Ok, now or never Olivia. You can do this. You've been doing it since you were 11.
I took a deep breath and begin my sides, and surprisingly it came easy to me. It was like I never stopped. How could I forget how much I adore acting? Oh, that's right because a little cheating asshole named Joshua Bassett ruined it for me!
"Great job, Olivia. Could you give us a second?" the girl with curly brown hair asked.
"Yeah, of course," I replied, smiling.
They all left the room and went into this tiny office. I'm really hoping this is a good sign.
"So uh how have you been?" Josh asked awkwardly.
"Fine," I snapped.
"Look, Liv I-"
"Don't call me Liv. Let's just be professional. Get through this audition and then you can go back to pretending I mean nothing to you. Got it?" I said with a fake smile.
"Ok," he said, sounding defeated.
"Hey, guys! We talked things over and were actually wondering if you guys could sing a song together?" this tall, blonde-haired guy asked.
What. The. Fuck.
This isn't our HSMTMTS audition, why do we have to sing together? I mean I know everyone sings in this, but do Josh and I actually have to do it now?
"Sure, that sounds good to me. Does that sound good to you," Josh asked me.
"Yeah, of course," I replied, plastering on a fake smile I've perfected over the past 5 years.
"Awesome, so how about you guys go in that office we were just in and put something together real quick? There's a guitar in there if you want to use it," the same guy said.
"Ok, sounds good," Josh said, him and I heading into the office.
"So, uh, what do you think we should sing?" I asked.
He just stared at me trying to make eye-contact, but I knew if I did my walls would start to crumble so I kept looking anywhere but at him.
"How about Just For a Moment? We know it suits our voices perfectly, and people love it," I suggested.
