(i don't think it's really necessary for me to write a whole scene about josh and liv going to lunch so let's do a little time jump. how about a week later..)
joshua's pov:
lily and i talked things through, and she knows that nothing will happen between us. which is why we started hanging out all the time again.
now i know what you might be thinking! "joshua you're such an idiot".
and u might not be wrong..
because i may or may not have been lying to olivia about it..
i just don't want her to start doubting herself and our relationship.
i'm protecting her by lying to her. if she knows where I've been sneaking off to she'll get worried. this is definitely for the best.
this is the best decision.

olivia's pov:
josh is keeping something from me.
he keeps dissapearing all the time and giving me the shittiest excuses i've ever heard. even harry had better excuses than him. one time he literally told he had to walk his dog. asshole doesn't own a dog. never has, and never wants to.
is he cheating on me? no, he wouldn't. would he?
think about..
1. sneaking away randomly and covering it up with bad excuses
2. always hiding his phone so i can't see who he's texting
3. he's doing this same shady behavior that he did five years ago when he cheated on me.
could he be with lily? no, no, no that can't be the case. he knows not to do that anymore.
i picked up my phone and called him. if he picks up and i hear a girl's voice then it confirms my theory.
"hey liv!" josh exclaimed when he picked up.
"hey, um where are you right now?"
"oh i'm with Matt."
"oh thank god," i said with a sigh of relief, "sorry i was starting to worry you were with lily or something."
"yeah, no i wouldn't um i wouldn't do that," he said nervously.
"hey, you ok? you sound nervous."
"i'm fine just tired."
"oh, ok. do you want to meet at our apartment? we could rest a bit and then maybe go out tonight."
"yeah, that sounds great. i miss-"
"joshy the movie starts soon, imma head inside," a girl's voice cut him off.
"uh who was that?"
"um matt?"
"so matt suddenly has a girl's voice?" i said sarcastically.
"i didn't wanna tell you cus i knew you'd get upset so i-"
"so you just lied to me this whole time?"
"well i-"
"who's that girl joshua?"
"its um its uh," he stuttered.
"josh, i'm giving you 10 seconds. who. is. that. girl."
"lily," he admitted.
i could felt my heart drop to my stomach.
"so this whole time you've been hanging out with lily? all those 'dog walks' and 'trips to the gym' and 'hanging out with matt' were all lies?"
"yes," he muttered.
"and you expect me to still trust you?"
"olivia i know i messed up and i'm so sorry, but it's not what it sounds like."
"so it's not my boyfriend lying about where he is all the time because he's hanging out with his ex-girlfriend, who happen to be the same girl he cheated on me with?"
"um yes but i can explain."
"just come home josh. i'm not doing this over the phone," i sighed.
"ok," he said before hanging up.
