𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐏 𝐇𝐀𝐃 dispersed after a brief discussion over who was to do what. Allison and Scott were to watch over Jackson. Stiles was going to get some sleep and then take over watching Jackson after the sun had set. Spencer and Kat were tasked with trying to read the Argents' bestiary for more information on the kanima. The awkwardness of the group's last conversation translated to Kat's activities for the rest of the day. Dr. Deaton had pointed out her stiff movements as she paid him for Kota's appointment, and a coworker had asked why she was so quiet as she filled out charts at work. Even later that evening, Lydia mentioned it when Kat came home for the day, sitting alone in the darkness of Kat's room waiting for her.
Kat tiredly ran her hand through her hair as she stepped through the front door of the McCall home, tossing her keys onto the hook by the coat rack and shedding her jacket. She had just locked the front door again when her phone rang from her scrubs pocket. She huffed and fished it out, eyebrows knitting together when she saw that an unknown number was calling her. She had half a mind to just let it go to voicemail and ignore the possible solicitation call altogether, but something told her to answer it.
"Who is this, and why is your number not saved?" Kat asked, kicking off her work shoes and heading to the kitchen to grab a snack.
"Uh, it's Matt."
Kat's movements stopped, but she soon shook her head and inwardly scoffed. What else could go wrong that day? Kat sounded just as annoyed as she felt when she responded to the Daehler boy, grabbing a piece of fruit from the bowl on the kitchen island. "How did you get this number?"
"Oh, uh, Danny gave it to me. I hope that's alright." Matt answered, sounding slightly scared. Kat guessed that she had let a little more venom into her voice than she had wanted. Matt continued when Kat didn't respond, "So, uh, there's this underground rave happening later this week, and I managed to find someone that can snag us some tickets. I don't know if that's your thing or not, but I was wondering if, maybe, you'd like to go with me?"
Kat couldn't help the scoff of disbelief that left her lips. This kid can't take a hint, Kat thought, shaking her head. She couldn't believe that he was still trying after everything she had done to derail him. It was really off-putting, and it scared her at first, but now it was starting to make her incredibly angry. Finally, she decided to let the lid on her anger fly off and darkly chuckled as she asked, "In what world would I want to go to that with you?"
"What?" Matt asked. Kat wasn't done. She was no longer freaked out by this kid; she was almost furious that he would not take the hints. Kat started to angrily ramble as she made her way up the stairs to her bedroom.
