𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐔𝐍𝐔𝐒𝐔𝐀𝐋 for Kat to be alone while at school, especially as of late.  She didn't want to give that weird Matt kid a chance to find her and freak her out, nor did she want Annie to corner her with her newfound wolfliness to attempt to intimidate her.  However, most of her friends decided that Lydia's freakout was nothing to be concerned about, so all she wanted to do was stay away from them at the moment.  Usually, there wasn't much that could get under Kat's skin, but the fact that all of her friends had returned to school the next day as if nothing had happened at the ice rink really irked her.  Of course, it wasn't every day that one's best friend had a meltdown at the local ice rink over something that no one could see, save for Kat, but it was becoming her new normal.  Was she just supposed to accept those strange and scary things would happen, and she had to move on?  Was that what it was like being involved in the supernatural world?

The library was quiet the following day, and Kat sat at a table with her nose buried in her textbooks and notebooks.  She'd typically be sitting outside with Lexi, watching the Junior Varsity cheerleaders practice their crowd involvement and chuckling about how their efforts were just so adorable, but she couldn't bring herself to do anything normal.  It was easier to distract herself with schoolwork than dwell on the everchanging facts of her new reality.

There were a few students spread out around the library, some quietly conversing and exchanging notes, others keeping to themselves.  Kat tried to drown them out by solving mathematical equations, but it seemed futile.  Her spotty supernatural hearing kept catching snippets of one specific conversation outside the library and had earned her attention when her name was mentioned.

"Hey!  Do you know Kat McCall, or where she would be, by any chance?"

Kat's brows furrowed.  She knew that voice.

Before she could think of who would be asking for her, another voice responded. "Oh, yeah, she's in the library.  Be warned, though, she's sort of in a mood."

Matt.  Of course, Matt would help some total stranger find her; he was creepy that way.  Kat made a quiet noise of disgust.  I'm not in a mood, she thought, shaking her head as she tried to return to her work.

"What do you mean?" The first person asked, laughing slightly as Matt and the other person started to near the library entrance.  Kat suddenly felt a weird feeling stir in her stomach, and she began to pack up her belongings.  Whoever was looking for her, she didn't want them to find her.  At least, not yet.
