𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐄 for an awkward silence to occur between Kat and Lydia. Most of the silences were comfortable, needed, or just there. Kat honestly didn't think it was possible to be uncomfortable with Lydia. She thought they had moved past that stage when Lydia agreed to be her Maid of Honor in kindergarten.
Derek and his pack had taken off soon after Jackson did, as did Scott, Stiles, and Spencer, leaving Allison and Kat to take Lydia home and try to explain to her what happened without telling her what truly happened. However, Allison insisted that Kat drop her off at the school to get her car, so Kat was left responsible for talking to Lydia.
Kat's SUV slowly pulled to a stop in the grand driveway of the Martin home, finally ending the seemingly ever-lasting trip from Kat's house to Lydia's. "Well, how 'bout you start with why was Derek there?" Lydia asked, but she couldn't stop the stream of questions she had from tumbling past her lips, "Or where Jackson went, or what is wrong with Erica and Annie?"
Kat's mouth hung open in regret as she tried to think of what to say. She was just as frustrated as Lydia when she was learning about Scott's lycanthropy, and all Kat wanted to do was tell her what was going on, but if she knew, she'd be in so much more danger than she was now.
Lydia took Kat's silence as an opportunity to hit her with a spiteful comment, "Oh, do you need a minute to come up with a plausible lie?"
Kat decided to throw out one of the only secrets she knew she could trust Lydia with. "Part of the reason why I'm asking you to do this is because my brother and Allison aren't supposed to be seeing each other, so it's -- "
