𝐋𝐘𝐃𝐈𝐀, 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 undercover overachiever she was, insisted that she, Kat, Lexi, and Allison show up to school early to get the homework she missed while she was lost in the Preserve.  She couldn't let ordinary people know that she was smart and cared about her grades.  She was dressed in a short purple dress and tall black heels, putting on the facade of the unbothered girl that she always did.  If she could look perfect, then she could act it.  But, as admirable as it seemed, Kat was worried that Lydia was starting to fall apart just below the surface.  Or at least beginning to crack.

Kat walked arm-in-arm with Lexi as the four girls ascended the stairs to the school's front doors, listening to the quiet chatter of her friends.  Kat had turned to Lydia, having taken the conversation to an uncomfortable but necessary conversation.  At least essential for herself and Allison. "So, you really don't remember anything?"

"They called it a fugue state, which is basically a way of saying, "We have no idea why you can't remember running through the woods naked for two days."  But, personally, I don't care." Lydia smirked, stopping at the top of the stairs as she looked at her friends, "I lost nine pounds."

Lexi, Allison, and Kat gave a lighthearted chuckle, sharing wary glances as Allison reached out to gently grip Lydia's hand. "Are you ready for this?"

"Please," Lydia scoffed, "It's not like my aunt's a serial killer."

Allison's jaw slacked as Kat and Lexi shared a pained look, but they all quickly recovered as Lydia abandoned them and swung the front door open to enter the school.  The girls shook their heads and followed the Martin girl into the school.  Every student in the hallways stopped their movements and conversations, staring at the girls with curious eyes.  They were eager to know what Lydia was going to do next.  Lexi, Kat, and Allison also stood there, anticipating Lydia's next move as they surveyed their classmates' reactions.

Allison nervously fidgeted with her hair as Lexi smirked, leaning in to whisper in her redheaded friend's ear. "Maybe it's the nine pounds."

Now filled with the encouragement and confidence she needed, Lydia bit her lips before letting a grin settle on them.  She tossed her hair from her face and started to strut down the hallway with a determined look, waving people out of her way as her friends chuckled and followed her lead.  The three girls accompanied Lydia as she picked up her homework from the days she missed before they decided to settle in the library to help Lydia get a head start on her work.  Kat was finding it hard to concentrate, her mind too focused on her conversation with Stiles the night before.
