Being back on the road with Fleetwood Mac was exhilarating, and it was fun. Lindsey and Stevie had found themselves sneaking off in closets to just have good luck sex before their concerts. But tonight was different. Tonight they were being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland Ohio. They were having what Stevie called a "mini-concert" they were only performing a couple of songs, Say You Love Me, Landslide, and Big Love. They were sitting at their respective table nervously and after Sheryl Crow inducted them, Stevie had to hold onto Lindsey because she thought she was going to faint. It was such a big achievement and she couldn't believe that all of the good things were happening to her now, at forty-nine years old. She was back together with Lindsey, and Fleetwood Mac was being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Mick was the one to take the stand first. "It is indeed an honor to be inducted tonight. I would like to thank Mr. Peter Green for forming Fleetwood Mac in 1967, Thank you, Peter."
Stevie was latched onto Peter's arm as the man wasn't fairing too well but when Mick thanked him she started rubbing his arm a smile present on her face because this was a special moment and Lindsey who was holding him up on the other side shook his hand.
"He left us with a stage that was to continue until today, lunacy, heartache, happiness, unhappiness, and thank god a sense of healing has come to all of us up here on this stage today, we've had a fantastic journey the music, has been a privilege for me playing with all of these guys and peter, Danny, Jeremy Spencer. On behalf of Stevie, Lindsey, Christine, John myself, and Peter Green everything that has been Fleetwood Mac up until today. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
Once Mick finishes, they go on to perform. Christine and the entirety of Fleetwood Mac is first with Say You Love Me and then Stevie sings Landslide with just her and Lindsey and then finally it goes into Big Love also her and Lindsey, and as she was singing on stage with him she couldn't help but fawn over him and how he was playing and she couldn't wait to get him back to the hotel, because tonight they were having a party of two
They made a very brief appearance at the After Party and then they went back to their hotel where they made sweet love into the early morning hours of October 2nd, there was an ulterior motive to everything Stevie did, especially down to the sexy red silk negligee that she bought and that was because they were celebrating Lindsey's birthday. Because on his actual birthday they were having a big whole mac party but they were traveling all the same because they had to be in Detroit for the fourth.
As they laid there in their sweet sex afterglow, Lindsey rolled onto his side and asked her the questions she was dreading. "What's next for us?"
"What do you mean?" She inquires.
"We've been back together now for what six months, we bought a house together so what's next are we just going to keep living life like this, or is there more to come?"
"I don't know what else could come." She shakes her head.
"Well, you already said you wouldn't marry me but have you thought about starting a family."
"We are a family, you and me a family."
"No, I mean like Children Steph. We're not getting any younger and I kind of...I kind of want a baby." Lindsey sighs.
"Lindsey I can't give you that. Like you said we aren't getting any younger, fifty is knocking on the door for me and that means menopause is coming in screeching." Stevie shakes her head.
"Well has it started showing up?"
"What menopause?"
"Yes."
"Well I haven't had any hot flashes, my sex drive is higher than ever, so I'm assuming no, but at the same time it is coming."
"But we can still try for a baby until we know for a fact we can't have one."
"I don't think I'll get pregnant though Lindsey. I mean we've been back together for six months we started sleeping together again in July and we've had sex a lot Lindsey and I haven't had any symptoms. I just don't think it's going to happen for us."
"Well, there are other options."
"What other options?"
"IVF and Surrogacy, and then there's always adoption."
"Lindsey I did it, all of it." She states.
"What? You don't have a kid."
"No, I mean in the early nineties I wanted to adopt so I looked into it. The agency I went to said that because I was a former drug addict that the odds of me getting approval with or without a partner was slim to none. So then I did the IVF. I took the fertility shots, I paid the 15,000 dollars to have some eggs surgically removed from my body and they're frozen at a Fertility clinic, but I don't want to have a kid if I'm not the one delivering it." She shakes her head.
"But Steph, even if you can't get pregnant we still have that option. Your egg my sperm it would still be our baby."
"But Lindsey, I just said I don't want to unless I can be the one that carries it and at this point, I'm so close to menopause I won't be able to."
"Steph come on be reasonable." Lindsey sighs.
"I don't wanna talk about it. I can't and I won't. I have to be the one to carry the baby and give birth. That's it, we're done with this conversation." She states rolling over and tugging the blankets up over her shoulders, flicking the light off.
Lindsey just huffs and grabs his pillow and he goes over to Stevie's luggage and grabs her plaid blanket that she's been flying with since the seventies.
"Where are you going?" She asks.
"I'm sleeping on the couch." He growls going over to the sitting room part of their suite and plopping on it.
"Don't be ridiculous come back to bed."
"I don't wanna."
"Lindsey, you're being childish." She sighs.
"I don't care. Goodnight."
