As the years rolled on and the times changed things changed. Lindsey and Stevie toured with Fleetwood Mac up until 2017. Stevie was double dipping working on her solo-24 Karat Gold- and Fleetwood Mac and it brought a great amount of stress and strife between Stevie and Lindsey. He wanted to go in and do another Fleetwood Mac Album, Stevie didn't so he went on and worked with Christine McVie and that was fine until they named the album Buckingham McVie and it felt like a direct cheap shot to Buckingham Nicks.  And then Tom Petty died, Stevie's best friend other than Robin died and he saw her retreat into that depressed shell that she retreated into when Robin died. Except this time, she didn't have the drugs to kill herself with but he didn't like seeing her like that because it reminded him of Tango and he didn't want to relive that again. Not to mention their kids were growing up so there wasn't anything at home keeping them happily married. And though they were still married it wasn't necessarily happy because the Buckingham McVie fiasco caused fight after fight. Everleigh suffered as her brother had gotten out and gone to college for Music Production, but she was still in High School so she turned to writing. She wrote poetry talking about what was going on indirectly with her parents marriage and she just so happened to pick up Lindsey's guitar one day when neither of her parents were at home.

Then in 2018 Stevie had enough with the fighting and she pulled some strings and Lindsey was asked not to tour, not necessarily fired, but he wasn't asked to tour. And that didn't bother him he wanted to focus on wrapping up his work. He wanted to release a solo anthology and he wanted to sort of slip into a semi retirement. Maybe a couple small tours here and there couple of guest spots on songs, an album but nothing as strenuous as Fleetwood Mac What did bother him was the fact that Stevie went out and within forty-eight hours of him being asked not to tour,  she hand picked Mike Campbell and Neil Finn to replace him. That's what pissed him off the most, but what was the figurative nail in the coffin was when she forgot to invite him and his kids to her Rock Hall Induction. She called them in tears saying she forgot to have them added to list of people to come and she couldn't change it because of the deadline. So of Stevie's ten allowed guests it was Jessie, Alec, Sheryl Crow, Christopher, Christine, John, Mick, Neil, Mike, and Margi Kent. Margi didn't need to be there, Sheryl didn't need to be there, and Alec is only Jessie's fiancee so he really didn't need to be there either. And Lindsey's met Alec, he loves Alec and he knows that Alec would've been okay sitting it out. And when Lindsey went to go buy tickets the ones for the general public were sold out and though he was a member of the Rock Hall he wasn't a sitting board member so he couldn't get the special tickets. So the tension in the house grew and Everleigh retreated into her music and her brother and the two of them had planned something out, but the problem was they needed help. So knowing that Lindsey was now essentially jobless they went to him and just like that, the Buckingham's were formed.

In 2019, Lindsey had a heart attack and had to have surgery. Seth and Everleigh where with him, giving them the opportunity to get him to the hospital and to save his life because he was immediately rushed into emergency surgery. Seth was in charge of calling Karen and though Fleetwood Mac didn't cancel any shows Stevie did come. She only had forty eight hours with Lindsey and the amount of tears that came out of her body t the prospect of potentially having ended up a widow right before her induction ceremony killed her immensely. That was the only time Everleigh really saw her mother break down. Sure she had cried when Tom Petty died and she cried when both of her grandparents died but this was something she hadn't seen before. Stevie took one look at Lindsey and she just crumbled into his stomach. He was sleeping in the bed and she sat right at the chair that Everleigh had been occupying and she just looked at him and she started sobbing and wailing and hyperventilating and her head fell right around Lindsey's navel because she knew she couldn't put her head on his chest. And the sobs that racked through her tiny body though slightly scared Seth and Everleigh they were almost grateful because it showed them that maybe their parents marriage wasn't totally on the outs. And when Lindsey woke up to her soaking through his hospital gown he shakily brought his left hand up and started stroking her head and when Stevie realized it she lunged at him wrapping her arms around his neck he groaned in slight pain but he returned the hug to the best of his ability mumbling I'm okay to her.
