Yawning, Mew walks out the staffs bathroom, making a slow trek back to the counter to continue working the rest of his four hour shift, which he had an hour more of before he could clock out.
It'd just gone eight p.m. all the stores lights were on and it was mostly quiet, the odd customer coming in for one or two small things. He had the night shift this time around, this time with a different shift partner who was only a year younger than him.
Going behind the counter he checks the time again even though he did it only two minutes ago, time seemed to be going tauntingly slow as he waited for the employees that would be taking over the next shift so he could take his leave.
Although, though he was anxious for his shift to end and yawning every few minutes, his brain couldn't have been more awake, and he honestly didn't know why.
It was going to serve as a problem later on when he wanted to go to sleep, an active brain would do nothing to help him fall asleep, and that's what he needed most.
He had an English test to take tomorrow that he wanted to be well rested and conscious for. But it seemed his brain didn't deem it important enough to let him be prepared for it. Not to mention it started at eight-thirty and would last for two hours.
Even if you finished early you couldn't leave the room, you had to stay until time was up, and you weren't aloud to have your cellphone with you either, so he'd have nothing to keep busy, 'cause he always finished early.
Though he was glad he only had one more lecture after that and he'd be free for the rest of the day.
Attention drifting off toward the dark, street lamp lit streets outside the store, Mew is left wondering what it'd be like to be a cat, able to walk around in the night just like how a human does in the day.
The things he would be able to notice and see, the smells of all peculiar things as the stars hang in the sky like a million fairy lights.
The life of a cat is so different in contrast to the life of a human. The way they do things, the way they act. They have no need for money, capitalism and financial stability mean nothing to them. They live by their own rules, they live peacefully and a lot of the time in harmony with each other.
Maybe that's what he'll be in his next life, a cat. Unbothered by the chains of humanity or governed by useless spectators that think they know what's best. He'll be free with little worry or expectations. That'll be the day, his day.
Exhaling yet another yawn, Mew is surprised to see his phone's screen light up the moment he looks down at it, becoming even more surprised when he sees who the message is from.
Ai'Smartass:
You up?
I'm bored.Mew:
I'm up,
how come you are?Ai'Smartass:
I could ask you the same thing.;Mild is talking in his sleep,
and won't shut up.Mew laughs, already feeling his mood getting better with those few simple texts, the airy quiet floor of the store seeming a little less dull.
Mew:
I have the night shift at my job
and I've still got an hour to go.Ai'Smartass:
Sucks for you (/*>*)/Mew:
Why do I feel like you
don't actually feel sorry for me?A moment later his screen lights up again notifying him that Gulf is phoning him. Answering the call he picks up the phone to put it against his ear, brow raised in both a curious and surprised manner.
