Chapter 20: Reassurance

"So what are your plans for Halloween?" Asks Tong going through his phone, spoon filled with rice halfway to his mouth.

Mew looks up at him for a second before focusing on his food again, a thoughtful look on his face as he thinks about his friend's question.

"I think there's a block party being thrown in town for Halloween, you know, the one they were going to have last year but the thing wasn't approved of, but they've got the all clear this year." Says Hiter who's sat a little ways away from Mew going through a textbook, apple in hand.

"So, that's most likely the plan then, attend the party?" Questions Mew looking between the two.

Tong hums, thinking. "I mean, it's probably the best thing. A lot of people throw parties and things for Halloween, so I guess this block party will be something new, if we can, we should all go. I mean, I wonna go, sounds fun honestly, and you'd be able to mingle and meet new people."

"Yeah, but studying..." Sighs Hiter, earning a scoff from Tong who looks at him with a slightly annoyed look on his face, as if he'd offended him.

"Seriously, come on, you need to get out more. I know that you're not that much of a sociable person, but it's good for people to just get out, and hanging out with us doesn't count."

"Yeah I know, it's just that I've got quizzes coming up and December's also on it's way."

"Dude, you're such a perfectionist, and it's still like over a month until December, so chill, C H I L L."

"It's always better to be prepared."

"Yeah, except you, you, don't actually need to study, like I'm sure you know pretty much all the answers to all the questions and whatever. I mean Mew's studying and majoring in the same thing as you, and he's not nearly as much of a study freak like you."

"Yeah, because he's too busy getting his dick wet in his free time to actually study."

"Hey!" Mew turns to glare at him. "For your information, I actually don't just sleep around in my free time, I study hard, maybe not as consistanly as you, but I do, and so far I've been doing just fine."

Hiter rolls his eyes going back to focus on the book in front of him. "We all have our own way of doing things, and mine is just studying a lot. But if it'll make you feel better, I'll come with you guys, I guess after two years of skipping it I can actually do something for Halloween."

Tong exhales a small 'huh!' followed by a look of success as he goes to take another bite of food before gazing back at Mew.

"So I'm guessing you're in?" He asks mouth full.

"Yeah, it's intriguing enough."

"Hmm. I'll chat to the others later and see if they're in, I'm sure they'll want to come though, unless they have things to do."

"Yeah, Kao and Maw are always down for a party." Chuckles Mew.

"Mm, though, I heard that Kao's got a date tomorrow." Prompts Tong wriggling his eyebrows.

"Oh, with who?" Asks Mew.

"Apparently with that couple he hooked up with."

"Oh, so he's really going for it then."

"Guess so."

"That's gonna be quite something to do. I mean, dating two other people that are already in a pre-existing relationship. Well that's if things work out, but they're definitely going to have a lot to talk about. Have you seen or met the couple?" Asks Hiter.
