Like the sound of a cricket ball bouncing against the parkade flooring of an empty room, all that can be heard in the deserted hallway is the sound of firm rubber soles making contract with concrete flooring as Mew slowly makes his way from one end of the hallway to the other.
Shoulders slouching while his head is dipped downwards looking at the screen of his phone, chuckling as Gulf replies to his latest text. Their topic of discussion being late 70's disco music and popularised style.
Gulf's argument was that the whole era had brought nothing but loud catchy songs that would later end up driving you insane because you couldn't get them out of your head and outlandish clothing styles.
While Mew was countering his opinion by stating that the late 70's disco music era was a historical breakthrough not only for music but art and diversity and individualism.
But of course Gulf took none of that into account and just went back to his defending statement that the era was useless and brought nothing but lack of hygiene and self grooming as well as controversial acts.
The whole thing brought nothing but a smile to Mew's face as he walked toward his next class. Ever since that day they went to the park he and Gulf had gotten closer, in the sense that they were talking a lot more and had become more open around each other. Making jokes and small talk like it was something they'd been doing for years. And to say that that didn't bring a jubilant feeling to Mew's mood would be a lie.
Gulf was funny, smart and when feeling comfortable became almost a completely different person then what he portrayed to the world. He laughed, he smiled like a mad man and became almost careless.
And he saw that when Gulf was around his friends and Mild, more so Mild though, which was obviously due to the two of them having known each other for years. But he could still see the hesitancy in his acts, his words, he was becoming more comfortable around the group, but not yet completely there.
It surprised him though, Gulf had so many fascinating attributes and they all shone through the cracks of his hidden persona, and it did nothing but pull Mew in more toward him.
Though Gulf said he'd never understand him, all it did was inflame Mew's curiosity. Gulf was something else, and Mew was always one for understanding new things.
Mew wanted to know what made the boy happy, what made him smile so he could do it himself. He felt like that was the least he could do for him, if nothing else, and he was determined in it.
Slinging his satchel off his shoulder Mew places his phone in one of its many compartments and heads into his scheduled class, surprised that his teacher wasn't already in the room, clarifying that he was in fact not late like he'd assumed, or he was and the teacher just hadn't arrived yet.
Spotting Tong and Hiter towards the back of the room he walks past the many student filled desks and goes to take the empty seat next to Tong. Hiter greats him with a short 'hey' while Tong gives him a 'what the hell?' expression.
"Where were you? You were almost late, you're lucky the professor isn't early today, you'd have been in trouble."
So he wasn't late. Mew shrugs placing his satchel down. "I woke up late and then got a little distracted on the way here."
The reason for that being Gulf, his conversation with the male'd slowed down his pace, literally.
"Well you're lucky, you know Miss Chulanone hates tardiness."
"What teacher doesn't?"
"Yeah, but she's one of the worse ones."
"I know, but I'm not late am I? No, so it's fine, I'm in the clear." Tongs sighs nodding his head.
